Now the result is out for Q2 and many folks passed the exam with flying colors ,do you feel the new format is normal just like old format.When exam started in Q2,we all believed sky was falling but then some people got scores in 90s and many in 80s. Folks are passing as usual,so do you folks things neah ,new format hype was a hoax ?

The only thing I was personally worried about was that the SIMS now count as half the score. Most of us hate SIMS so that was my biggest problem. I've taken two sections now under the new format and I don't think it is that much different. Mainly the layout in MCQs and SIMS per testlet. That's about it. No biggie.

I think it's just more of a hype that all review providers and AICPA/NASBA did that got us all scared. I mean we haven't seen the pass rate yet so who knows? One thing for sure compared to the old exam is DRS and enhanced sims are guarantee to show up whether or not you are prepared.

Higher weighting on TBS means less reliance on “testing strategy” which is doable on harder MCQ.

The 15 minute break that doesn't count against time is a Godsend and should have been there all along.

Amazingly tough got slightly tougher. The marathon got changes to 30 miles.

AUD was the only one I took under the new format, so it's hard to tell. I didn't notice any difference in question type or anything like that, I just hated that the SIMS weren't in 1 testlet.

Have to agree with @M123. Just no way you can ride the MCQ score to pass like in last format. You have to do somewhat reasonable on the sims to pass now. Bombed the sims and it's pretty much game over for you. 50% split is just too much.

Naturally, the exam is more difficult because there are more SIMS and now SIMs weigh more on the exam too. They wanted to change the focus from memorization to application, which is intrinsically harder because application means you have to really understand the material. Add into that the fact that the SIMs are basically a crapshoot, and you have a slightly more difficult exam. The 15 minute break makes things easier and it seems like they changed the passing score in order to compensate for this different format though.

Enhanced SIMS with a million exhibits to look at is the worst part about the new exam. SIMS broken up between multiple testlets is also pretty bad but ensures test takers have good time management skills. The 15 minute break is the best part of the new exam. I think that the same amount of people will pass regardless of the test, but I also think people will prepare better since you have less a chance of passing just by guessing right on MCQ.
