    NINJAs,

    I don’t like missing people’s questions here on the forum, but I’m sure that I do – especially when I don’t re-visit a thread.

So – I’m trying something new.

If you have a question for me, please post it here.

    Some loose guidelines, please:

    – Please don’t post a customer service question here.

Instead, please email support@another71.com and we’ll jump on it.

    – Please keep your question to 3 sentences or less.

It keeps you from spending your time writing a novella, when that time is better spent studying. It helps me to quickly get to the “heart” of question.

    – Please make your question study advice/study tip related (not technical or MCQ related).

…Something that I can quickly answer vs needing to go research a technical CPA Exam question.

If it’s a NINJA MCQ question…please email it to support@another71.com with a screenshot, the question # and what the question/concern is about the MCQ and I can better address it that way.

    – Finally – Please only post in here if you have a question.

I’ll get dizzy sifting through who has a question vs who is responding.

    To Your Success,

    jeff

    Hi Jeff,

I have to retake BEC which I failed in March 2017, with the new changes which section do you think can be done by end of May between BEC and AUD while working full time? Never took AUD before.
    Thanks.

I know many super competent accountants that passed 3/3 and then failed AUD even though they admit that FAR/REG was much more difficult. AUD is my last exam… and with the hard score release schedule, it worries me. Why is AUD known as the “tricky” exam?

Yes – Take BEC mid to late April (I'm assuming you've been studying since you go the bad news?)

You can fit AUD into 3-4 weeks if you really grind. I studied AUD for 2.5 weeks-ish (I procrastinated and then was under the gun) when I passed.

AUD is more subjective – it's based on judgments, and it's relative … I/C determines substantive procedures, etc. Some people like the concrete black/white of tax law, but struggle with AUD because it can seem at times like there's more than one good answer.

    You'll be fine 🙂

    Hi Jeff,

Curious about if the TBS will be adaptive since there are now 3 testlets?

Thanks for taking the time on this Jeff! REG blueprints – if it's not on there, is it not tested? You called out only Dodd Frank specifically as the material being cut on the new REG exam. Commercial paper is not on the blueprints. Forget about it?

    Thanks!

@QueenCPA I asked the Examinations Team directly on this. The TBS aren't adaptive. That applies only to the MCQ.

It's hard to discern what's not on the exam per the Blueprints. The AICPA told the providers specifically what content has been removed. I would forget about Commercial Paper.

“What are the new recommendations of hours needed to study each part?”

Despite the changes, I am still sticking with my 5-6 weeks for BEC/AUD and 7-8 weeks for REG/FAR.

I don't think a longer exam for BEC changes the prep time.

    Jeff!

i know how you felt prior to the 2017 changes about practicing sims…I sit for auditing in a few days (2 to be specific) and have gotten to the review phase in Ninja MCQ. Do you think its worth trying to get through all (or even some) of the sims, as opposed to just going over MCQs and Ninja Notes??

Repetition is the father of learning...

Hey Ralph – my stance on sims (if you can do the MCQ, you know the concepts for the SIMS, so focus on the MCQ and sprinkle in SIMS if you have time), has probably been the one “principle” of mine that has received pushback over the recent years.

So…I'm re-thinking that stance – especially in light of the added SIM weight. (I don't know why I feel the need to capitalize SIM, but I do).

Spend half of 1 day (the first day) out of your next two on them. Hope that helps!
