AUD was too easy – I don't even know what to think

My AUD exam experience was soo nice that it reminds me of that time I went to Hawaii compared to when I took FAR. I still have a little PTSD from the FAR exam.

I’m a little worried though. I finished a couple hours early and I didn’t even feel the need to review any of my answers. My first section seemed really easy to me and the next two just seemed easy. There weren’t any of the harder questions or topics I was expecting. I know a couple of the questions that I did get wrong because I remembered them and looked them up from home. But the rest of the test I just feel the questions were very straight forward and easy to answer right away.

This is why I worry. So many people say they thought the test was easy and they fail. What if the test lulled me into a false sense of security because I knew a good portion of the answers but there were some I only thought I knew? What if the questions I thought were straight forward actually had a twist, and I didn’t catch them? I can’t help being nervous about how easy I think this test was.

The simulations were ridiculously easy for me. There was nothing challenging to me on any of the sims. I am less worried I did poorly on the sims than the MC. I had two research questions and I found the exact match for both of them.

I know I’m probably being silly about this all, but if this auditing is really hard for so many people and it was this easy for me, I might have to reconsider my decision to work in taxation.

Good luck to all of you who are taking AUD soon. I hope you get as easy of a test as I did!

I took AUD today and it was hard for me. Ugh. I dunno what to think half the time with this exam process. So many highs and lows, total emotional roller coaster! I hope we both pass. This is my 2nd attempt at AUD. First time got a 70. Ugh!

You cannot have success without failure. Success is hard. If it was easy, everyone would do it. But it's the "hard" that makes it great!

    AUD 70,75!
    BEC 69,71,72,68,75!
    REG 71,70, 80!
    FAR 75!

Also took AUD today…it was definitely ‘easier' than FAR, but I don't think it was because the questions were easy, I just felt it was much easier to prepare for than FAR. I felt like I had seen most of the MCQ at one point or another during my review…SIMS were a strange experience because I found the answers for 2 of them word for word from the AL (research question was also pretty simple), and 2 more of the SIMS each had an information tab with a ton of things I thought were supposed to be memorized.

DJR, I have also decided to work in tax, but I don't think I'll be changing my mind based on an exam haha

    FAR - Aug '14 - 90
    AUD - Jan '15 - 91
    REG - May '15 - 93

I had the same experience with AUD, but ended up with a 72. I thought the SIMS would screw me over, but it actually was comparable. However, I got weaker on about 2 topics, stronger on 1 topic and comparable on the others for MCQ's, that's what messed me up. When you get that close to a 75 the difference maker is luck on which questions are pretest.

I bet you killed it. If you look at people's signature lines you will notice that AUD is the only one where people actually get a 99. I wouldn't worry, it sounds like you could end up with a score in the 90's 🙂

I had the same experience as spartancpa15. I took the exam last Tuesday. This was my 3rd crack at AUD and this go-around, I only used Ninja MCQ and knocked out about 2500 questions during my studying. Most of the questions on the actual exam looked to the ones in Ninja.

My biggest fear going into the exam was the sims…you never know what you are going to get! Just like spartancpa15, I had 2 sims where I was able to find the EXACT answers in the literature. I had 2 research sims, and while they weren't super easy, they only took me about 10 minutes each and I'm confident that I nailed both of them. The other 3 sims didn't seem too difficult to me either. I honestly think that having gone through all of the Ninja mcq prepared me and helped me fully understand the concepts.

I am very scared to say that I feel confident that I passed since this was my 3rd try at Audit and you just never know until you get your scores!!

    REG - 66, 70, 76
    AUD - 72, 64, 90! (Thanks Ninja MCQ)
    FAR - 74, 76
    BEC - 74, 83

    And, I'm Done!

I took AUD yesterday, I feel like I did well, I don't think I killed it, but I feel confident in my performance. I work in taxation but I also do a great deal of financials and a reviews and compilations, I think having that experience gave me an edge. Now it's time to start on BEC and wait for my test results,

    FAR: July 5, 2014
    AUD: TBD
    REG: TBD
    BEC: TBD

    To anjanja:

I'm not an auditor at all. I'm in tax. In school, I took auditing and had a lot of trouble with the tests because the questions always gave a variety of ways to test an assertion or asked what method of testing should be used on a certain control. I couldn't differentiate well between different assertions or identify valid methods of testing controls. I studied AUD with Becker for almost a month leading up to this test and I felt comfortable with most of the material after two and a half weeks. The repetition and the tips really helped me.

The MCQ are pretty easy and can be finished quickly with great accuracy. If you did good on the SIMS, then you probably for sure passed.

While I didn't have this experience with AUD (honestly, I'm still not entirely sure how I passed that exam but you won't hear me complain about that!), I did with REG. I was actually a bit disappointed with my score when I saw 81 pop up on my screen but I thought all of the MCQs were fairly easy and the SIMS weren't too troublesome. In hindsight, I probably should have double checked more of my answers and not finished my exam early but a pass is a pass regardless of the score.

An exam being “easy” for you may not necessarily be a bad thing- it could simply mean you were well-prepared for your exam and will have the score to match that preparation. Coming out of REG, I knew that I had passed it even with the usual questioning of everything I had answered on the exam afterwards.

I'm taking a similar approach to mwhitstult. Failed the first time with a 72, but I'm only looking at NINJA MCQ for my retake. I like hearing that the NINJA questions are very similar to the actual exam. I solely used NINJA for my FAR retake and it served its purpose. Here's to hoping that my 3500 question attempts and counting will get me over the hump.

@jstay – what else are you doing to prepare this week? We both take on Thursday.

    BEC - 82
    AUD - 82
    REG - 79
    FAR - 76

    FAR - 71, 76
    AUD - 72, 67, 74
    BEC - 71, 69, TBD
    REG - TBD

Awesome! I have a few years of audit experience and I felt like Audit was the “easiest” section for me. Thank goodness for Audit! Also, after FAR, Audit is closely related. Sounds like you killed it!

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

@warrreagle, i dont know what else to do. ive been studying my butt off i did most of ninja, have 200 questions not seen. i don know if i can stomach the depression of getting them wrong. my practice exams are alright but not great. im definitely going to try and read the book one more time through while doing 250 questions a day. Hopefully i can get some FAR related questions and use the AL for the sims
