This starts to make me hate audit. I’m not sure if I want to quit after this busy season. Perhaps I will get fired before I resign,

Well, if that’s true, I will resign before they fire me.

Welp, so much for completing 3 CPA exams then pondering whether to continue auditing career or accounting career.

People tell me to hang in there. Well I am hanging so high to the degree of hanging up my cleats

That's the sad reality of public accounting in general. That's why you might've heard people saying that “it's not for everyone”, “not like 9 to 5 job…”, etc. That's why people get experience for 2 years or so and hang up their cleats then go to an industry and slowly move away from accounting and/or internal audit to move into business operation or mgmt.

Make sure you try and do something healthy for yourself everyday.
Keep your mind right and just keep trucking along through busy season.
Get your 2 years in, or possibly transfer from audit to tax.
Tax is still bad, but perhaps not as bad as audit.

I only did an internship during grad school in public and went straight into private out of school and I love accounting. Not everyone likes the same stuff. I started out by getting an electrical engineering undergrad degree and hated engineering. I'm pretty sure I would despise marketing.

You can always get your audit experience and then jump ship into a state job.
I had an uncle who was an auditor for NYS, did municipal audits and similar.
State employees typically don't work more than 35-40 hours a week, great benefits, pension.
I asked him once how he liked it and he said then, not so much, but now he loves it (has been collecting state pension/retired for 15 years now).
    Something to look into.

Two words: governmental accounting. If you can find a bookkeeping or governmental audit job, your outlook will change. Very low stress audits. Suggest to check GFOA website for jobline. Employers like Baker Tilly are good.

I work in govt audit. We work 40 hours per week but our pay isn't that great. Don't listen to those guys above subtlely disrespectin' us state employees. Mid-level bureaucrats make the most impact in this world. Fact.

I'm with you. I'm only 3 months in to my job at a large regional accounting firm and I've never hated my life more than I do now. My coworkers are extremely boring, my senior is a weirdo, and my manager is a workaholic that wants his staff to do the same. I understand people say I should have known what I was getting myself into but honestly I was misled by this company. During the recruiting process I was constantly told that we work less than big 4, maybe max 10 hours a day and get our weekends. Well that was a bold face lie. My manager just informed me we'll be working at least 12 hours a day and a full 8 hours on Saturdays too. It's bad enough I find the work boring and I just really don't think accounting is for me. I enjoy my life outside of work, spending time with my family, friends, GF, etc, and this industry doesn't allow you to do so. The only reason I'm still staying at this job is that I'm in the process with a law enforcement agency and if I leave now it may affect my background process. NairaToss I would not even sweat it. If you hate it then get out and pursue something you love or at least can tolerate.
