I just started studying for BEC and am looking for some Advice. For example, maybe certain areas/sections I should focus more on. I am hitting all chapters HARD, but any additional advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Here is what I have heard thus far:

    1. Study HARDER on IT, Strategic Planning (Cost acct), and Financial Management.

    2. Don’t waste too much time on Written Communications if you are a Strong Writer and have decent general knowledge about accounting and business subjects. If you are short on time, then focus more on MCQ’s, rather than WC. I have passed FAR and should have passed AUD (find out FEB 7th), so I know a lot of the technical details and concepts from those exams if they show up on WC.

    3. Know the Formulas like the back of your hand. But, also know the reasons and concepts for the formulas. Additionally, the formulas “should” not be as challenging during the Exam.

Are my assumptions Correct? Regardless, I am STUDYING my BUTT OFF (the most IMPORTANT way to PREPARE) and want to pass this exam on March 10th before the changes!

    Thanks for any feedback!

I'm on round 3 of BEC (was supposed to take the 3rd one this morning, but weather closed the facility). I would agree on all of the above. Know your formulas!! Know what they are, how to use them and how to change them if they switch up pieces of info. I can't obviously say specifics, but I walked out both times thinking it was IT heavy, but that may be that those stand out easier than the others so I remember them.

I have a habit of getting right into the testing and I do a data dump quick on the wipe board. I get out all of the formulas I can, little things that have caused me to stumble when studying, etc. I write them as quick as I can and then start the test. Then I have them if I get nervous and start brain farting.
I tend to get performance and attribute standards screwed up and the COSO's 17 principals, so I've got a little thing I intend to write down.

I would say, Ninja WC prep was helpful this time around. I don't write out any of the communication, but Jeff's has those focus questions at the end. Those were good refreshers for key words and phrases. Since it is computer graded first, they will be looking for the buzz words. I think me missing each of the last two attempts by 2 & 3 points was probably lack of those buzz words.

    Best of luck!!

I just want this all done.  I want my life back!!!

I think everything you have said is right. I wouldn't ignore economics concepts-those tend to trip me up. I found Ninja MCQ extremely helpful in supplementing my Becker studies. We will see how I do come this Saturday. Happy studying!
