Internal controls CRIME are changed into something else per the 2017 executive document. I understand that this is being tested in Q2. Anybody has any idea how we should study for this?

The components and principals are no longer aligned with my current materials.

Just made a post about it as well.

According to Becker customer service there is NO updates to BEC for Q2 (means the same material is tested for Q2 as was for Q1). I was told that the next update is going to be in May for Q3.

I am completely confused because I know COSO ERM released updates in September 2017. This means they should be tested starting from April 1, 2018. BUT Becker said, they are not tested from April, but from July.

E-mailed Becker Academic Support. Hope to get some clarification about it.

@allshenee: COSO ERM EXECUTIVE summary for 2017 is what I searched on google. You will see that the components and it’s principles are different then then 2013 update. It’s a concern because IT and IC seem to be a big chunk for BEC but my materials aren’t updated.

@rencpa: I am using ROGERCPA and his update section indicate that this is effective April 2018 Q2. I’m also using ninja as supplement but I don’t see any changes there either.

@j3cpa Thank you. You ARE correct. There is COSO update (testing from April 2)

I received a reply from Becker. Was told, “The updates for the BEC textbook related to these topics is currently available. Click the envelope in the upper right of your software, then click Welcome, from there you should be able to click on Business Course Updates and print the updated pages.” So I was told incorrectly by the customer service when I called the first time today!

For Becker: 3 pages update for Module 1 (ch 1) and 13 pages update for Module 2 (ch 1).

However, Becker does not plan to make any updates to the software until May. Please do not hold me on this because the woman who told me this was the same person who told me, “there is NO updates for Q2”.

Need to admit, this is very unprofessional! COSO is extremely tested on the BEC exam. Leaving us with no updated questions, is not the right way! I planned to test as soon as possible in April. Now, I am not sure what to do.

I was wondering about this, since Becker is still on 3.0 for BEC but I knew there were changes to the rules. There's 16 pages available that they're calling 3.1 (there is no 3.1 book yet). It's 3 additional pages for B1M1 and an entirely new B1M2. I can't believe they didn't send out an email on this – if they did I totally missed it. I should not be finding this stuff out from here, that's for sure. I'm only just now finished with B1 (since I don't test until May), so I'll loop back. But that's stressful for people testing soon…

@Jen J Becker will make an upgrade in May, so you should be fine. I still haven't decided to when take the exam.

@j3cpa I am sure Roger & Ninja will get the right material soon.

My suggestion… study something different this week. Eliminate the stress, use the energy efficiently. Give some more time for an update. At least this is what I decided to do today.

@rencpa – my exam is 5/5 so I will be either in Final Review or done by the time they do the upgrade. Will be working my way through the pages tomorrow.

I question why it takes everyone to update the material accordingly. Everyone knows about upcoming updates 6 months in advance.

Like I said, study anything else. Let them know we need the material NOW, not in May or June!!

It is confirm from the AICPA’s summary of revision to the 2018 Blueprints that the COSO ERM framework is eligible for testing beginning April 2018.
