First of all, prometric center treats everyone like criminals. I understand the fact they are required to check us, but I don’t understand why are they always so nasty and disrespectful.

This was my BEC retake after receiving a 73. I was really calm and confident going in because I studied over 100 hours after receiving a 73,

So, I decide to begin my first testlet after dealing with prometric ladys attitude.

First testlet was hard, majority of the questions were not covered in Becker.

Second testlet was even harder, there was no way I could have prepared myself any better.

I started my third testlet. After staring at the screen for almost 10 minute, unsure about what is even being asked, I wanted to walk out. I couldn’t even guess them. I lost all my confidence. I decided to take the 15 minute break. I went out and the lady started yelling, “GO CLICK THE OPTION TO TAKE THE BREAK.” And then went through the security check once again after using the restroom.

The next testlet was fair, both questions required to know the subject thoroughly. I am sure I got most of the questions wrong. The WC were easy.

I hope someone else will have a better experience than I. I honestly could not prepare myself any better. The questions were so much harder than the last time I took it. The sims were just ridiculous.

Thanks guys! I really hope you guys are right. It seemed like they wanted me to fail. I have decided to continue and take Audit in couple weeks.

My only recommendation for you is to check out the AICPA BEC sample questions, I wish I had.

    @sweazy

You may have passed bc I felt very similar to u. I nailed some questions in BEC and other questions, especially IT, I had never, ever seen before and was super pissed about my exam experience. I thought about walking out of the testing room, but quickly pulled it together. Hopefully u nailed the WC bc those are easy points to out u over a 75. Goodluck and stay Strong!!

I couldn't disagree more with the OP's stance on the employees at the prometric center at least pertaining to my experiences. I have done all my testing at the same location here in Mid-Michigan and the ladies here have been nothing but sweet and accommodating. Sure they have protocol to follow, that is their job. They were super respectful of me and my time. Unfortunately though, I do have to agree that my experience was somewhat similar to OP when it comes to the test. I used Ninja for 95% of my studying and 5% was using the Wiley MCQ test bank. There were definitely questions that were not found in any study material. I wrote down over 10 questions on my practice sheet that, when I researched later, I could not even find an answer for. This was very discouraging to say the least. The SIMS, while long, felt a little too easy. Time consuming they were, I did not feel that they were overly complex. I either did well or completely missed the boat on these. I also concur that the WC was very easy. The worst part about this test though is the WAIT for the score release. I switched to Ninja in December last year and passed my first exam, REG , in February. Now I am on the clock to pass all the others too. I wish I knew my score sooner so I could reschedule, ugh. On to AUD & FAR in the meantime.

    I HAVE a life now.

    AUD - Passed

    BEC - Passed

    FAR - Passed

    REG - Passed

    BEC: 7/31/16 (Awaiting Results)
    AUD: 9/8/16

    FAR: 12/3/16

@Jeff I was not trying to call you moral police. My post has context ,I believe sometimes ( very infrequent ) some people divulge very specific information but still I have not seen anybody divulging questions here.Let me give example to prove my point.
In AUD one can tell confidently there will questions on Reports ,Compilation ,Attestation ,Reviews ,Ethics and Internal control.Based on individual's background and perception about difficulties someone can come and say OMG there were reports and Internal controls questions all over.Do you feel that is really true ? Has he/she disclosed the questions ? But some “Ethics Disclosure Vigilante” will start beating the drum “hey Jeff detain this person for violation of diclosure” .Come on “Ethics Disclosure Vigilante”, if you are not good in Reports and Internal control concepts you wouldn't pass AUD. These are generic.
Now if someone says there are question on “calculation of Amortization of interest ” for construction period then that can be considered inappropriate. When this happens people do suggest him/her to edit the post and if it's more than 30 minutes they feel helpless and rightly suggest to write to Jeff.
Earlier people used to share their exam experiences and used to ask if forum members feel he/she has passed or failed and this makes this forum interactive and interesting.Off late I have seen considerable drop in exam experience sharing due to vigilante group hence thought to raise this issue .This is the most popular forum for CPA exam and I wish it to be remain like that hence giving my feedback.

Yeah, the prometric crew plucked my nerves the last time I sat for BEC. Not sure if they thought I was cheating or if I was just paranoid. Every minute someone would walk behind me and watch me test. It was really distracting. Whenever I got back from the bathroom, I accidentally put my scratch paper over my license and dude checked me real quick asking where it was. I had to tell him to chill out. Best of luck on score release Moose!

Wannafree often the posts are edited either by jeff or the moderator so what you see looks benign enough (becuase the post has already been moderated) then you see responses to the orignal post that in fact had disclosures but because you don't see those disclosures the responses appear overblown and out of proportion.

Best rule of thumb (per Jeff) is to stick to adjectives “the test was harder than I thought” and avoid even the most general references to content “There seemed to be more questions on ________ than the review material said there would be”.

Gotta remember not only does the AICPA have rules but so does this web page, and while we can debate the merits of both sets of rules when we're here we follow them. 🙂

“@sweazy are you alright there buddy? The exam is getting into you.”

why would something Ive finished be getting into me? You are the one whining about having to empty your pockets before taking the exam. We all had to do it, they werent specifically targeting you, you are not a victim, you are not special even though that's what mommy told you. Stop whining.

Speaking of IT questions, I also would like to know where they get the questions from? If we can't find material to study in CPA review course then what options do we have?

I took the sample test on the AICPA website today. When I got to the TBS area, there was a resource tab that had the formulas I needed to answer the question (debt to equity, quick ratio, Return on Equity). I didn't know the formulas would be provided on these. I know they say the sample format, with the tabs, is the same with the actual exam. Was this your experience?

I'm not sure what the OP is referring to in terms of the sample test being indicative of the actual testing experience with questions out of left field. I've seen 2 of the exact same MCQ questions out of the 5 available in both Ninja MCQ and Wiley's test bank. The other 3 are also all very similar to MCQ questions available in the study programs. And the TBS are exactly what I'd have guessed given the BEC topics. Am I missing something here?

Some of the IT questions they pull right out of their deep ass! Jk, I seriously have no idea where the AICPA pulled some of the It Questions from on my BEC exam. It was very frustrating. However, about half of the IT Q's were relevant and I could earn points from them and nailed them. The other Half I have absolutely no clue and am assuming they pulled them from an upper division MIS class that we have Accountants have never taken. Just nail the IT Q's from your study material and hope for a pass! But, the AICPA should let us know where they pulled some of the IT material from. Goodluck.

@sweazy I never complained about their procedures. I merely expressed my opinion on their unprofessionalism. I don't know why you seem so butthurt. Congrats on being done with the exam! Go out and catch some fresh air, you need it.

@findingDemo I am glad your experience with sims went well. Maybe I did not study as hard as I thought.

@mtayo Thanks! now the 4 month wait begins.

My views on what is disclosure and what isn't is purely based on emails I get from the AICPA asking me to edit/remove posts.

My level of sensitivity wasn't up to their standards at first, so I adapted.
