BEC – Rogers VS. Others

I’m thinking of re-taking BEC in April. Two chapters I’m really concerned about are Financial Management and IT Section. Rogers list bunch of formulas at the end of the Financial Management chapter. It doesn’t go into a lot of details. Has anybody compared Rogers BEC section with NINJA book, Wiley, Gliem? If yes, what are your thoughts on it?

I had lots of IT questions that I wasn’t familiar with. I never saw those topics in the Rogers Book. How can I expand my IT knowledge?

I also used Roger, but supplemented with the Wiley test bank. I felt the combo of the two helped me with passing BEC. I would suggest adding a supplemental test bank just for the extra practice. You could sign up for a few of the free trials to see which one might work best for your learning style. Either way, good luck!

    Fanch,

Did you find Wiley testbank more challenging than rogers?

I have Gleim's books (they are review copies from 2015, got them for free), and I looked at the books for BEC and REG and they seem to be way better than Roger's. I planned to take BEC in this testing window but opted to do AUD instead because his BEC looked weak, for the reasons you mentioned and more. I watched about 10 of the BEC videos and was not confident about them. I might sign up with Gleim for BEC and REG too.

    Crazyleon,

I might have to do the same thing, get another test bank and book. I want to see how other review courses look like. I really want to make improvement in IT and Financial Management section.

@cpa1982 I heard, even before buying Roger, that he wasn't good for BEC in particular. I chanced it, and just went ahead and purchased the whole thing, but I already had Gleim's books and knew I could supplement with those. You could buy Ninja MCQ – I never hear many bad things about that. I might end up purchasing Ninja too if all else fails. You might do what I did, and find a way to get free copies of previous years' versions of Gleim and/or some of the other review courses. I got the Gleim books from an old accounting instructor. I was talking to him one day on the phone and he said “you know, I have a whole pile of books that the CPA review course vendors give me every year – come help yourself.”

I did not think Wiley was more challenging, but I did like how quickly I could go through questions, and get immediate explanations of right vs. wrong. It helped me move through and take notes at a faster pace than Roger.
