    Hi

I currently use Becker and the way I’ve studied for AUD and REG was I went through all the lectures once and did the corresponding MCQ after each lecture. Then when I was done with all the material I did all the simulations and went over flashcards. I never took any mock exams or sample tests. I barely passed with a 77 on both exams on the first attempt.

When I started studying for FAR I realized that the lectures weren’t all that helpful (most of it was material I’ve already known), so after the second unit I decided to skip the lectures and just do MCQ. The ones I get wrong I read the explanation and redo after I’m done with the session. I kept track of my scores and ended up with an average of 67% on all units on the first try. I planned to do all the sims at the end but ended up doing a little less than half of them. I ended up getting a 61 after I took the exam. According to the score report I passed the MCQ with 75-80% but not the sims (40-45%). After I took it the second time I was confident I would have gotten a similar score on the first attempt had I gone over the lectures/remaining sims, because the set of sims I got on the second attempt was much easier.

I’m thinking about skipping the lectures with BEC as well, but not sure because I don’t know the nature of the material.

Any thoughts? What was your technique? Any advice would be appreciated.

    AUD 77 (6/2018)

    REG 77 (9/2018)

    FAR 61 (12/2018), 84 (1/2019)

    BEC 88 (2/2019)

Studying time using Becker (4-6 hours)

    AUD: 16 days

REG: 13 days (skipped units 7 and 8 and did only flashcards instead)

FAR: 28 days, 12 days, skipped lectures for both attempts

    BEC 13 days

I am taking BEC next week and here is how I am studying and what I have found helpful.

1.) Go through the book and just read all the information. Listen to the lectures but do it at a 2x speed.

2.) Try to do the multiple choice after you read each section so that way you can ingrain how to do the problems in your mind.

    3) The last week before your exam go back and skim the whole book just to get everything back in your head that you might have forgotten or slipped your mind since you started studying.

    4) Start practicing the Sims and take a look at the format for how to answer the written prompts. That way both solving SIMS and doing the writing responses are fresh in your mind as you are about to take the test.

Hope this helps. This is my plan. I take the exam Feb 1st!

    AUD - NINJA in Training
    BEC - 75
    FAR - NINJA in Training
    REG - NINJA in Training
    BEC - 2/2019 - Passed - 2,000 MCQ's , 10 Simulations, Reviewed Written Portion Outline

    AUD - 3/2019 - Awaiting Score (3/19) - 2,500 MCQ's - Very Few Simulations

    REG - 4/2019

    FAR 6/2019

Looking forward to putting this whole process behind me!

I wouldn't reinvent the wheel on what's already been successful for you, just maybe add a little to your prep. I think the foundation should always be MCQ but apparently you did well there for FAR and lacked a little on Sims. I barely do any graded sims before the exam but I do all the Skill Builder exercises for each section, which are like mini-sims. I also watch a lot of the becker sim videos where the instructor walks you through the exercise. I'll try to work out what I think the answers are before watching the video and then follow along. The main thing I'm working on is getting an understanding of the thought process for sims, which is half the battle. If you can get a solid gameplan in place so that you don't freak out when a sim with 5-6 exhibits populates on the screen come exam time, it is worth a ton.

Also use a test bank like Ninja or Wiley and do a couple hundred random MCQ, then look at the progress reports that show your scores by topic. That may give you an idea of areas in which you could use some work, which will help on any sims that come up for those areas.

    AUD - 95
    BEC - 87
    FAR - 84
    REG - 90
