So I took the BEC mock exam for becker and got a 71. However, I am concerned about the written communication. I know it isn’t graded on accuracy and as long as you throw in some buzz words about the topic and repeat the question, and use proper grammar I should be ok. However, any last minute advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I take the test july 10.

You just about nailed it there. Doesn't hurt to define the keywords in your essay. I made sure my paragraphs were 3-4 sentences tops. Seemed to do OK.

I retook BEC in Q2 after losing my previous credit to the 18 month window and I bombed the WC part. I ran out of time only had 17 minutes when I started that TBS blah blah… Judging by your scores, I think youll be in good shape as long as you're using buzz words and following the format that is outlined in most review courses. Good luck!

Jewfromaxxi, I used a couple of templates from people in this forum. You should do a search. There are a couple good ones posted.

Someone here (with very high scores I think – Chandler?) actually claimed that it didn't even matter what you wrote, only grammar. So if you get stuck, I'd give that a try and just try to write as much as possible.

Here is the template I found and used for my exam, and I absolutely had no idea other than putting in as many/relevant key words as I could using this structure/format, but turned out just fine:

Dear [insert name], (note that a salutation is only necessary if the WC is formatted as a letter instead of a memo)

Thank you for allowing me to assist with your inquiry regarding [restate the question]. When analyzing [Subject matter to be discussed], we must consider

Each topic should be its own paragraph. Begin each paragraph by giving a definition of each topic.
In conclusion, I recommend [summarize your findings above, preferably using more buzz words].

I appreciate the opportunity to assist you. Should you have any more questions as you review [subject matter] in greater detail, please do not hesitate to contact me.

      Best regards,
      [your name]

Yes, so I am the one who claim that most of the time the content of your answer is not graded for correctness. Most of our WC are graded by a computer, and they can't tell if our answer is right or not. Rather, it looks for grammar, sentence structure, spelling, etc. Doesn't hurt to throw a few keywords in there as well.

If you are throwing advisory score between 72 and 78, your WC will more than likely be human graded in which case you may get docked if you don't have the right answer.

Source: On my BEC exam, I had absolutely no idea on two of the three WC problems, so I guessed and followed the format I had practiced. I looked up the problems after my exam, and my answers were definitely wrong. I probably deserved no more than a 40% on both of those problems, yet I still ended up with a 96 overall. I think it is definitely easier to write a short essay on something you are familiar with/know the answer to. However, its probably impossible, and definitely impracticable to study every topic you could see assigned.
