Hi all , I am inquiring process of finishing courses needed to begin studying for my cpa . I have a question I graduated with my undergraduate in 2012 and have been an accounting manager /controller the past 5 years for a smaller company 300-800 employees in the private sector . I recently took a job as an accountant at a huge corporation with 1000-5000 employees in the process of going public. my question is ,do you think taking an accountant role will screw up my career since im no longer a controller ? I also thought it would be better to be an accountant while studying vs controller where I was working 50 hours +

It really depends on duties and scope of responsibilities. Extreme example- you could be CFO of a lemonade stand vs being a staff accountant in a fortune 500 and the SA would likely be better on a resume.
