Hi All,

Does anyone have experience with experienced hire interviews at deloitte? I work mainly with Hedge Fund Tax, so I’m assuming we need to know our security analysis? Aggregation, stuffing, etc..? I am interviewing for a tax senior position. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

There will three persons at least and one person may take anytime between 30 minutes to 45 minutes.Normally it is within time.If they need more time then they will call you again.
Questions are not very specific e.g.How to calculate Double declining method etc, they would ask you simple question and allow you to explain.They judge based on your answers and composure.
In one of the step ,they will give you a scenario and ask you how to handle it ? Use your common sense and answer generally,engage the interviewer e.g. ask some inputs etc .Key here you are not monologue and you are thinking logically to give solutions to client.Remember or pretend interviewer is client.
Overall questions will come out from your resume.There would be no question which you can't answer .If you have specific question.
You should explain with confidence what you are doing.If you have completed CPA then that's golden if not let them know in subtle way you are on your way to become CPA ?
Some questions will be like moving to consulting vs permanent with one client.Travelling and interfacing with client are areas they would like to know how you can handle consulting.Think about the best honest convincing answer.
One last suggestion , don't be too technical detail ,keep it interesting unless they ask you the specific.Let me explain it what I mean say they ask you Dollar value LIFO method,don't explain the index ,base price and how to divide and multiply and if price comes down how to remove layers etc.Big No.Say yes I have worked with Dollar value LIFO method and it was complex task to remove layers due to inflation as the client was a Global org.I have also used xyz tool to handle the situation etc.
You get an idea.

As you are coming from Hedge Fund ,I would suggest let them know you are open to diversify to other areas too unless you really want to be in Hedge Fund tax.

Also at some point someone will ask you why Deloitte ? Most likely the Partner .Think about the best answer .I have a dream to join Deloitte or Deloitte brand is best for future will not cut the ice.

thanks wannafree! i think you are right i have to be able to backup everything on my resume. i've interviewed at big four before and typically the partners are more behavorial type questions and senior managers are typically going to ask more technical questions. Time to brush up on my technical knowledge. thanks again!
