My FAR exam is in two weeks and I am trying to do as much mcq as possible. But it takes me around 2 hours to finish 1 set of 33 mcq and review the answers. I can barely keep it to 99 mcq per day. Is it something wrong with my study method? How many mcq and SIMS do you practice per day?

If it takes that long to do MCQs, then you arent ready for FAR in two weeks

    BEC - 85

    REG - 86

    AUD - 80

    FAR - 80

don't listen to sheri, she doesn't know anything. What a negative, useless, and counter-productive comment. What does that person know anyway, they haven't even passed FAR.

dude you're 3/4 done, and its FAR.

I did 120 MCQs today, and that took me about 8 hours, so it's taking me about the same amount of time too. I used to do 200 questions a day for audit, easy. FAR, it's different. There's so much material, so i feel you. I'm not in test-taking speed, just trying to learn the material. Some questions you have to analyze for like 10-20 minutes. just keep at it.

    good luck

I'm currently trying to stay at around 60 MCQs a day. What about you guys? It does take a long time to go through the MCQs for FAR, much longer than going through AUD.

    AUD - 77
    BEC - 86
    FAR - 76
    REG - NINJA in Training
    AUD-77

    BEC-74,86

    FAR-74,76

I think it has to be quality over quantity, if takes you 2 hours to get through 33 questions but you have gotten all your mistakes figured out, took notes, and actually learned something, then it's more productive than just doing 100 MCQ and then making the same set of mistakes on the next progress test. I would say do as many as you can (I feel like I always maxed out at about 100 for FAR, could do a ton more for AUD and BEC) but think about whether you are being productive and learning rather than focusing on the number of MCQ.

I go through about 231 Becker MCQs (in sets of 33 MCQs 7 times) then move onto Ninja MCQs (sets of 30 MCQs 6 times) so a total of 400+ a day.

Note that I’m studying full-time for FAR, and what I’ve been doing may be a little extreme, but I’d rather be over-prepared than under-prepared. I strongly believe in both quality/quantity of doing MCQs. With that being said, some conceptual/calculation MCQs, you should be able to recognize and answer them a lot faster than others. For instance, if a question asks you to identify one of the elements of relevance (or could be faithful representation), you should already know what those elements are in your head if you’re 2 weeks away from taking exam. Also, if they are asking a simple calculation question to find missing/damaged inventory, then you should be already thinking the formula: beginning inventory + purchases = COGAFS – ending inventory = COGS, and go from there.

Obviously, everyone’s situation is different, but if you come across a really diffcult question on which you’re spending more than enough time, then don’t spin the wheel, and move onto next MCQs you could have done and learned more concepts from, especially if your time is limited because you’re working full-time, have a family or whatever the reason is.

Yes – studying for FAR sucks, not because it’s the most difficult section of the CPA exam conceptually, but it covers so many topics. Like one wise Ninja on this forum said, “FAR is an inch deep and a mile wide.” Stay motivated and keep working through MCQs.

It just depends. I've done 100 MCQ already today and it's only 9:30. My exam is on Monday, though.

I'm planning on spending the rest of the day working through SIMS and will circle back to MCQ/troubled topics over the weekend.

I finished Wiley and have been ripping through NINJA MCQ's, I try for at least 150 a day. But keep in mind I am in the review phase of studying. Also taking FAR in two weeks! Let the shit-games begin.

The most I ever did in a day was around 140, I think I was lucky to hit 100 a day in FAR.
I would not recommend doing blocks of 33 MCQs if you are in study/review mode.
Doing large blocks is good for gauging your time, but to learn from the MCQs you have to go back through to review the correct answers.
In order to work through the problem to see why the answer is correct or incorrect you need to re-read the question.

I preferred to do MCQs in test mode in blocks of 10, so I could quickly get to the end and able to review them while they were still fresh in my mind.
I used blocks of 20 in Gleim TB set to study mode, so I would see the answer immediately and see why I was right or wrong on a question.

Doing large blocks is an inefficient use of your time.

Sometimes it would take me 30 minutes to do 10 MCQs and then review the answers, depending on how complex the calculations were and how off base I was on the concepts.

My FAR exam is next week and it will be my first exam taken. I am doing 40 to 80 multiple choice questions a day and it depends on how many I get correct or incorrect. I usually take four to five hours doing problems and rewriting my notes. It has been a struggle though. I seem to forget the topics that I haven't revisited in over a month until I review the answers and then take additional notes. And rewriting my notes take a long time. I scored well using WileyCPA so go figure.

I plan to write a review on WileyCPA another time. This software has more errors and bugs than any other software I have used. I even contacted WileyCPA and they made it seem like it was my computer or internet connections with the software glitches.

    FAR - 70, 70, 76
    REG - 70, 80
(I used WileyCPA and Ninja-FAR only)

It took almost two years, but I am now finished with my CPA exams.

I'm in review mode right now, so I'm doing about 150/day. But when I was going through the lectures, I was averaging about 75-90/day.

    AUD: 71, 77

    BEC: 81

    FAR: 55, 80

    REG: 77

I did not focus on the quantity of of MCQs done per day; I just made sure that I did every MCQ in CPAexcel twice before my review phase. My review phase lasted two weeks, and I did not do any MCQ in my review phase (They would just stress me out too much). I simply reviewed my notes for the last two weeks to really hone in on the conceptual aspects of FAR.

I also took a while to answer MCQs, and this was also a point of worry for me. Do not let it stress you out too much. Just keep working hard and give it everything you have.
