Hi all. I am retaking FAR on December 10th. I took it in late July, but I unfortunately failed with a 68. I had to rush through the last testlet and guess on 2 of the SIMS. However, I had a lot going on in my personal life and just returned to work from maternity leave and took it within my first month back at work. I started studying for my retake last week and now have 2.5 weeks to go. I know quality over quantity is important, but I am struggling to cover a lot of multiple choice each day and it concerns me.. For those that have passed, how many multiple choice or SIMS did you do in a day in your final review for FAR? This is my last section to pass and I REALLY just want it to be over.

    BEC - 77
    FAR - 84

I did about 3000 MCQs and 100+ SIMs, but when I retook my exam I have a lot of weird questions about gov. accounting, what helped me the most is the understanding of the concept. I would advice you to work and practice MCQs and SIMs on your weak areas and just keep reviewing the material, make sure you understand gov. accounting, leases, revenue recognition and consolidation and be ready for unexpected simulations. You almost done and just do your best this time. Good luck! I'm taking AUD on December 5th, how was your experience with AUD?

    FAR - 73, 78 (WileyCPAexcel 3,000+ MCQs, 50 SIMs)

    BEC - 71, 71, 74, 84 (WileyCPAexcel 3,000+ MCQs, 10 SIMs)
    REG - 84 (WileyCPAexcel 2,000 MCQs, 15 SIMs)

Make sure you know the new rev rec rules, new lease accounting rules, non-profit and governmental. These are the most heavily tested topics along with random IFRS topics. Pay very close attention to SIM instructions for how to enter responses -all positives, negatives, zeros etc. Sounds like you also need to pick up the pace on MCQs to give yourself enough time to even complete the SIMs.

    Thank you both.

AndreA, my audit experience was honestly very easy. I finished the exam with 35 minutes to spare and made an 82. Audit is easy for me though and even was when I took it in college. I would just study as much as you can and know the opinions very well.

Bigstakk, thanks for the advice. Yes, I definitely spent too long on the multiple choice which is what cost me the exam since I had to rush through the SIMS.
