FAR Sims

I took FAR April 30 and I’ve been pretty good about not keeping it on my mind as I’m now prepping for AUD June 9.. what a breeze AUD feels like compared to the beast that is FAR, but I cannot help myself but to think back to my experience with the SIMS. I’m going thru that phase where every hour I go back and forth between feeling like I’ve failed to feeling like I did enough to pass. It’s relentless, but I have to ask if anyone can please chime in here:

Of the 8 SIMS I saw, I feel comfortable about 5 of them, having partially guessed on 1 of them (adjusting certain parts of a letter based on given information), completely guessing on another (the same type, you’re given a letter and have to adjust certain parts of it based on the documents provided), with the last one (huge SIM with 8 documents and extremely long FS) leaving absolutely positively blank. I am really banking on that last large SIM I just mentioned being a pre-test, looked like it would have taken an hour to complete! Of the 5 I feel “comfortable” with, I can say 3 are concrete, while the other 2 are I’d say 50-80% (hoping closer to 80%, obv) comfortable. Of the 2 that are of the 50-80% variety, 1 of them was a SIM on Diluted EPS! Really hoping this will be graded as I felt overall pretty comfortable about it, but I’m now realizing that no where in the AICPA Blueprint does it mention a requirement of analyzing or evaluating Diluted EPS, so naturally I had myself an “oh shit” moment. Any thoughts, input? Anything to ease my mind or to serve me some cold hard truth?

You always do better than you think. That's bogus about the diluted EPS sim. It sounds like you were able to reason your way through the sims so you definitely were prepared enough. Just focus on doing enough to pass AUD and think about how awesome it will feel to be done with the exams when you see your passing scores on June 27th! Tip for AUD – I was trending high on MCQ and felt like I knew it really well, but the sims were nasty. My coworker took it last week and said he same thing. Be ready for nasty sims and just take a deep breath and complete them to the best of your ability.

Peoples Champ — thanks for replying man, appreciate you taking the time to chime in.. yea dude, I was thrown off my the diluted EPS, especially because one of the last MCQ I saw in the 2nd testlet was a diluted EPS question. I know how to work EPS, worked them fairly hard so I was decently comfortable, however what threw me off was the question was framed around a 6 month window! These assholes, 6 months, so now how does that affect your WACSO? It was tough, but overall I think you're right man, I gotta just stay focused on AUD. I've heard mixed things about AUD, my buddy got an 88 and said the same thing, MCQ are painless, but the SIMS were out of this world.. doesn't surprise me one bit. I just moved to Manhattan Beach, CA — so if anyone is eager to get this wrapped up its me.. i watch people go out on the beach every day as I coup myself up in my room to hit FAR and now AUD. Best of luck to you in your journey as well, you're half way there!

I would not sweat it at all.
I ran out of time leaving the last SIM virtually blank and was figuring 50-70% on the rest of them but I ended up with a solid score.
Just keep on trucking. Figure FAR is in the books and now you just have AUD to finish it up.

@fk122 good luck on AUD and getting back your score for FAR!!

I am studying for it right now, and was wondering if you happen to have any advice for FAR and what specifically to spend my time studying.

@FK122 – just like with everyone here, I felt destroyed after leaving the test center because of the SIMs that made me feel like I had been wasting my time studying for FAR…let's just say I felt confident on maybe 2 or 3 SIMs and I wasn't even sure if I had the research SIM correct, but it turns out I did fine, so you're fine. Move on from that toxic thinking on how horrid you did on FAR, and keep focusing on AUD.

@FK122 – Yes, those SIMs sucked. I know that I got a decent amount of points on most of them, but I had some reconciliation problems and I couldn't reconcile either SIM completely. I know I had a lot of the items identified and plugged in, but one of them came up in the first set of SIMS, so I didn't want to waste my time getting it perfect. I bet you will be okay, I am hearing that this is normal. After all, we only need that 75!

I am also studying for AUD for July. Best of luck to you in preparation for that exam.

    BEC - 74, 71

    AUD - 78 (expired), 73

    REG - 65
