    I guess the saying is true: If you walk out feeling okay about the exam, YOU FAILED!! I took FAR last week and received my score last night..72. I really thought I did good, great even. I did all my sims and knew 5/7 and was able to enter in EDUCATED guesses on the others.. So sad.

    I told myself yesterday that I’m quitting, this is too much for me.. but this morning I woke up and said “Screw that, I’m going to pass it” Soooo I’m going to pass it…

    This was my first attempt at FAR and I got a 72, not bad I guess. I am retaking it in the beginning of January, while it is still fresh in my mind. Can anyone give me advice on where/how to start? I can’t start from the beginning because I’m taking it in about 20 days. Should I go over weak areas and do MCQ, should I watch important lectures and read? Should I just review for the next 20 days.. lost.

    Damn,
    I remember reading the post you wrote before you tested, you seemed to be ready based on the preparation you described. Now I'm really worried cause am no where near to the level of preparedness you described, man I need to really put in more time, I need to say “man I'm really exagerating it”. Cause otherwise I will have a hard time on test day. But who knows, maybe you just got a bad test that day. Anyways you are close I hope you get flying colors second time around.

    Martimann, don't worry.. I am a REALLY bad test taker. I know the material so well in my opinion, but I freak out on exam day and get major anxiety. You'll be fine if you even studied half as much as I did… I really suck at standardized tests.

    I scored 55 the first time I took FAR and I was completely shell shocked. Came back and got an 81 on the second try. A 72 for a first try is nothing to hang your head about. It sucks and it's deflating, but you are right there where you need to be. Just need to tighten up a couple screws and you're in business!

    Thanks @CHR1437,
    I'll give it my best shot but you just never know with these exams. Good luck on the retake, hopefully we can get the remaining sections done before the changes.

    @CHR1437

    I got a 72 on my first attempt on FAR. It happens, I will echo what other have said, MCQ's and read all explanations to know it back and forth. Govt and non for profits are good topics to focus on. But being you have a lot of free time and banging out a 72 on your first try tells me MCQ's would probably be enough. Do not lack off being you have the time, take full advantage and just spank it and put it behind you.

    @hamms30 that is very encouraging, thank you!

    @martimann
    good luck!

    @docholliday What did you score on your second attempt? I am def. not slacking off, I am again studying 7 hours a day for the next 18 days. I know some ppl said not to burn myself out but I honestly don't get burned out so I can handle 7 hours and feel great. Since finding out I failed (Friday the 16th) I have gone over 45 topics. Basically all of framework,overview and statements (wiley) and some of the financial statement accounts.

    What I am doing is taking the quizzes in each section, if I score 100% I move on (I know ppl say 80% but I like to be safe). So far I have been scoring super high, and I am taking a lot of notes when I get something wrong, and I am making sure no guessing or memory answers (by working out the mathematical answer even if I remember the question and answer). If I am struggling with a topic I watch the ninja plus video on it, it is quick, to the point and helps jog my memory. When I am done taking every quiz in the wiley program (maybe about another 7 days) I will stop, re-write ninja notes half of the day and do a bunch of mcq the rest of the days until the exam. I can't imagine failing again if I do all of this right.

    @CHR1437 It sounds like you have a really great study plan.

    I'm honestly starting to believe mental attitude has a lot to do with it. I think part of the problem with my last exam is I kept bashing the whole process because I am so burnt out and tired of studying. Having a positive attitude about your study time (not just the exam) can really affect how well you retain the information.

    Good luck to you, I really hope you pass! 🙂

    @vee_1984 honestly, the night I found out I got a 72 I was angry, exhausted and I swore that I was done, that I didn't care anymore. In the morning I woke up and said NO I GOT THIS! I just opened up my books and laptop and started again. I wasn't as depressed and sulky as I imagined… STILL SUCKS THOUGH LOL

    And thanks, I hope you pass too!

    @Needsa75 I used Wiley, I studied for about 7 weeks and I studied 7 hours a day everyday (I didn't supplement with anything). I made sure I understood every section, every little curveball that could be used. I also got lucky with my sims, they seemed easier than usual (Compared to REG and FAR).. If you can get a 92 on REG, you'll pass audit with flying colors.

    Thanks CHR! Did you use the same method when studying BEC? I thought studying for BEC was a bear but the exam wound up being significantly less stressful than REG and FAR IMO

    @needsa75 not even close, I never deserved to pass BEC. I lied to myself.. but when I really thought about it, I did NOT devote enough time to it. Not even close to the others. I studied the same way for AUD, REG, & FAR. I am not the greatest test taker, I get soooo anxious and feel like I'm being tricked someway and that the answer can't be as easy as it was for me to get. I've learned it isn't “EASY” I just studied so I know the answer lol. I'm getting it now. I didn't give BEC the respect it deserved, I thought I would pass it in my sleep cause some of the quiz questions seemed kinda stupid easy.. But YEAH.. so much for that.
