    For you Gleim users, Ho would you say Gleim FAR SIMs measure up to the real thing?

    What do they call an accounting person, who only managed a 75 on all four parts of the CPA exam....you got it, CPA!!!

    BEC (2/28/16) ----- 78
    FAR (09/10/16)-----
    AUD
    REG

    CIA, CGAP, CFE

    I'm inclined to agree with Skynet…excluding dental work and that time I accidentally inhaled Tabasco sauce, FAR sims were one of the worst experiences I've had to endure.

    FAR - PASS
    BEC - PASS
    REG - PASS
    AUD - PASS

    Done and licensed!

    Although I didn't use Gleim, I can tell you that the FAR sims are beyond awful. But, I can also tell you this…I didn't finish two of them, wasn't entirely sure if I even got the research question right, and felt like I maybe got 50% correct on the rest of the sims. And I still passed. So try not to get too discouraged when you get to them, and just do the best you can. My best advice on the sims is to manage your time well on the MCQs so you have plenty of time left. I gave myself 1:45…and that wasn't even enough.

    Gleim sim practice is pretty good, but like the others said, real far sim is pretty awful.

    @ASUalum,

    Thanks! I will heed your advice. Were the topics of the SIMs things you were prepared for, or obscure and off the wall?

    I have the Gleim sims. I used to post about this quite a bit, but I switched over to Gleim from Roger after passing my first two exams because I “barely passed.” I wanted to feel more prepared for REG and FAR and thought Gleim could help me do that. Long story short, I failed REG twice in a row because I wasn't really benefiting from the Gleim MCQ. I went back to Roger for lectures and combination of Roger and NINJA MCQ.

    However, as far as the sims, I still practiced some of the Gleim sims before I took REG. I don't know if it was luck or being better prepared but I had two sims that were almost identically set up to a couple that I had practiced in Gleim. Even though I didn't practice a ton of the Gleim sims, I certainly felt more prepared for the sims because of using it.

    For REG, I felt like the Gleim sims were comparable in difficulty to the real exam. It remains to be seen for FAR. I just tried to do some Gleim sims but didn't get through much. I am probably going to practice as many as I can during the last 7-10 days before my test

    I practiced at least 1 SIM from ever subunit in Gleim and I was very happy I did that. In my opinion the SIMS were comparable to the exam..

    May the force be with you .

    BEC - 78 (2/16)

    FAR - 78 (2/16)

    AUD - 69 (8/16), 75 (10/16)

    DONEEEEEEEE

    I also think that Gleim SIMS are spot on to the real exam. I felt very prepared in the types of questions we would receive.

    FAR - 08/30/15 - 90
    AUD - 11/12/15 - 92
    REG - 01/19/16 - 82
    BEC - 02/29/16 - 83

    Passed all on 1st attempt using GLEIM (full program) and NINJA (MCQ only)!!!

    @Excel14 – I didn't necessarily consider any of my sims “off the wall”…it was mostly just the fact that they were so long and complex. I just don't think there's a specific way to really study for the sims. Basically if you understand enough of the material, you should be fine and be able to come up with something to put in the blanks. While the FAR sims were difficult, I didn't really get any off-topic things…it's definitely stuff I should have known or did at least see in the material while I was studying.

    @ASUalum,

    I get ya. We'd have to be walking Encyclopedias to remember the vast quantity of this material. Congrats on being finished. What will you ever do with yourself now? Lol

    @Excel14 – Thanks! I don't think it has quite sunk in yet that I'm done…I still feel like I should be studying. Ha! But it's pretty amazing to have free time again…gonna take a little road trip this weekend to get away and celebrate!

    I had a SIM on my actual exam, that was identical to a Gleim SIM. However, on 2 SIMS I felt like if I could just decipher what they were asking, I stood a chance. I was okay on the rest.

    I guess doing the Gleim SIMS can't hurt, but just brace yourself for the SIM truck to sneak up on your blind spot, and clip your tail end…

    Done.

    Knight Rider – Actual FAR SIM Truck doesn't clip you in the rear. It is more like hitting you DEAD ON and while you are laying flat on the Asphalt, Backs Up on you and your Insurance Company putting you at Fault for causing the accident.
