I recently passed my 4th and final CPA exam. I graduated in 2011 and always knew I would pass, but I wasn’t motivated until 2017. During those first 6 years I would get little bursts of motivation, and I would buy study software or book an exam. When an NTS would expire, I would just buy a new one, same thing with my study software, when my software expired, I bought a new one. My first Becker software came in a box with DVDs, and my final Becker software was on my IPAD. All in all over the last 7 years I spent $22,133.34 to become a CPA.
I’ve also had to pay a pretty steep physical health price. In less than 10 months I went from a 25 minute 5k to a 45 minute 5k, and from running 30-40 miles a week to running 2-3 miles a week. I also gained 60 lbs. I became serious about the CPA exam last year after tax season, and I was able to pass the CPA exam in a nine month period. All my free time was spent studying and I have become lethargic. Since June 10th, I’ve started running daily again, and I feel stuff happening.
Anyways the CPA exam was costly to me, and I broke down all my expenses in chronological order below. How much has it cost you?
