I will do anything legal and ethical to pass FAR

The other sections didn’t bother me but I’ve already taken FAR three times. (not consecutively). Each time score improved and my attempt was the worst score ever 74. Weaker on conceptual framework (what) and SIMS.
Now I am retaking it again and desperate to pass. What else other than things listed below can I do that is legal and ethical to pass FAR and have this study prison behind me?

    *journal entries
*mcq’s until throwing up and eyes bleeding, while understanding why on ones I got wrong
    *reading the textbook multiple times
    *t accounts
    *focussing in on weak areas
    *no cutting corners, study everything

    What else?

It all came together when I started to really understand the BS. Knowing the Balance Sheet backward and forward and how the Income Statement and everything all fit together was the key to my 87.

Becker's final practice test set A & B are very good. The sets simulate the actual test. The questions are even harder than the actual exam and they are NOT recycled from their homework or progress test banks. Scoring above 50's is an indication that you're ready to pass or not. It's not guaranteed though.

I also like Becker's final review software. It brings all the information together in a condensed manner while reinforcing the concepts.

I agree with Amor, the “final review” course is pretty good.

I am working full time now with just BEC left. I passed FAR with an 80 first try using Becker (self study) and Ninja MCQs. I would have not been able to pass FAR while working and doing Becker. There is just too much material! Here is how I passed:

    Do:
teach yourself gov’t NFP from another source
know the long examples (In Becker phone book textbook) inside out
    get the final review

    Dont:
worry too much about JEs if you know the concepts
learn material, do a thorough review, and review again- so go over materials 3x.

I don't agree with the “not worrying about JEs”. Understanding them helps you understand the material. If you make an effort to visualize or write out the JE for each problem you do, it'll help retain the information better.

I’ve never spent a lot time on JEs or SIMS and passed FAR, REG and AUD on the first try. Look them (JEs) over, but spend your time on other areas that will make or break you.

I suppose it varies person to person, but I think really understanding the JEs were key for me – knowing the entry for a given situation helped the concepts really sink in for me. I found myself quickly writing out the JEs for a situation in a problem just because it would help me see where everything was going and focus in on what I needed.

I also agree with Kaylee – knowing the BS & P&L inside and out was big for me – if you know how things should flow through I feel like you can work through situations you may not be 100% on. I feel like the Roger review did a good job of showing how everything flows and fits together from statement to statement.

Weak on sims might be the problem. Are you leaving enough time for sims? I left 2 hours for SIMS (And I considered my sims to be reasonable) and barely made it. Thanks to god I scored stronger on SIMS, or else I would have failed. I also believe that some luck factor is included on what sims you get and the overall performance in them, but time is the key factor.

Are you guys saying that Becker isn't good for NFP and Govt sections? Trying to plan out the second half of my study regimin and I know these two are very important to master.

If it did not work the first time, I wouldnt risk to depend on it for a second time. You are the judge, you have to determine whether you need a supplement for your studies, or if you think you have more room for improvement with Becker.
