If you are complaining it is because you donā€™t get in.

That and about $7 will get you a Starbucks coffee.

But seriously you feel that way because its something you wanted and achieved. You should be proud of yourself and on top of the world. With time you'll realize being proud of your accomplishments doesn't have to be in comparision to others.

I had a big 4 offer (experienced, advisory) and turned it down because the pay was too low for me and too much travel for a mom of 2 kids.

Lol. Most of the people that I know who work for the Big 4 are very nacicistic, selfish, and believe they just graduated from Wharton Business School with an MBA-Finance. C'mon you just landed a job that pays you $55k per year and your work 70 hours per week!!

Okay, I'm kind of being an assh*ole because there are some good people who work for the Big 4. And, they usually do hire the most driven students who have stellar GPA's and great work ethic. It's just funny when someone who works for the Big 4 acts like they work for Goldman Sachs as a Portfolio Manager raking in $300k per year!

Stop Trolling you Big 4 Goon! Jk.

“What wrong with that thinking” ? You are thinking like that because you have not gone through all sections. You have just passed BEC ,by the time you pass all four sections , most likely you would become humble.I am talking from my perspective.I felt I was very strong in BEC as I knew ( or know ) the Cost accounting and IT from back of my hand but failed twice at 70 and 72.Once I felt I was the strong in FAR and couldn't even attempt all SIMs and got 68. Now I am humble and hesitate to say I am good or better in this or that.I believe CPA exam will make most candidates humble except to those who clear in one attempt. There is one genius guy in this forum who cleared 3 sections at lightening speed but going by his posts I believe he is humble too.

    Your honesty is appreciated.

Can you please be more specific so we can help you to work through this?

What specifically are you better at simply because a local office of one of the companies collectively referred to as the “Big 4” hired you?

Chess? Disc Golf? Jiu-Jitsu? Star Wars Episode I Trivia?

go to goingconcern website instead. They welcome this type of approach in forum commenting. Whats good being a Big 4 but a douche outside of office you know? Making incrementally more than non-Big 4 person shouldn't come with a side of douche in it. Most people here are actually trying to be productive/get through this exam anxiety. Look in the mirror and think whether its worth really trolling šŸ™‚ Just study, be humble, pass that exam, and be nice to people. All is good though cuz im sure you're just being light hearted šŸ˜‰

Response to @tudtroll – This is the equivalent of me saying I'm better than you because I PASSED MY CPA AND YOU ONLY PASSED BEC.

I genuinely feel that because you've only taken one exam and passed and I have passed all four ( I know its wrong)

I personally think Iā€™m better than you if you are not a CPA

Note: I don't actually think any of these things. I kinda think you're being a big goofball posting that. Probably isn't going to get you far in life with an attitude like that.

Big 4's hiring is just more highly selective. But it doesn't necessarily make you a better accountant. @tud20551 I'm genuinely curious how many years experience do you have in Big 4 and what you are capable of as an accountant? What is your typical day like and what are the most difficult tasks you've had to accomplish? Share with us so we can settle this debate once and for all šŸ™‚

Precisely the reason why, from the get-go, I never wanted B4 and will stay in private forever. The cocky frat-boy attitude of most B4 employees is not what I want to be around…oh, excuse me, I can't be politically incorrect and leave off “cocky” (is there another term for it?!) sorority-girl attitude.

I used to work for a very big private company here in Southern California. Revenues were in the billions but they weren't public. B4 firm came in and did an audit. They took way too long to do it, and our employees were not happy about it and were sick and tired of the B4 drilling them and reconfirming things that were discussed weeks/months ago, and a lot of other crap. I had nothing to do with the B4 audit team but even I got sick of seeing them and bumping into them on the way to the restroom or as I was going back to my desk. And their “lets party our way thru this audit” attitude was really annoying too – they had one of the big conference rooms right near my desk and many times didn't keep the door closed. Luckily for that job I worked while listening to iTunes all day so didn't hear too much of them usually. Good times…..

OP, your attitude does not bother me – although I personally don't choose to associate (ish) with anyone who has the attitude that they're better than I am just because they work for EY, KPMG, PWC, or Douche…er, Deloitte.

Congrats on making the Big 4. Yeah, I presume it's a little easier than trying to get through small firms/private accounting.

But a little humility can go a long way. Particularly when you're studying for the CPA exam. I imagine it's like that One Night in Bangkok song. It makes a tough guy/woman humble.

Also, keep in mind that accounting requires a lot of teamwork. That attitude I imagine won't play well with others, either in the Big 4 or elsewhere.
