Just finished an office interview. When should I expect to hear back?

Actually, I had an office interview with a large regional firm about three weeks ago. At the end of the interview, the partner said that I should expect to hear back in about 1-2 weeks, but we’re going on to week 3.

My question is, how long did it take for you too receive and offer? And if a firm doesn’t want you, do they call you back and let you know that you didn’t get the position, or do they just leave you hanging?

Send them a follow up e-mail to let them know that you're still interested and when you could expect to hear from them. The delay could be anything, i.e. their normal hiring process (background checks, paperwork, etc) taking longer than usual.

Many firms will send you an e-mail eventually stating that they went with another candidate who was a better fit, blah blah. Some do, some don't.

Usually they let you hang. 3 weeks is a long time. Any job I've every gotten I've heard back within a week if not a day or two.

    AUD - 8/2012 - 89
    REG - 1/2013 - 90
