Hi everyone…. so I got a score this morning and like most score releases (losing count on how many at this point), I did not pass. I am halfway done (AUD and BEC) and need to pass the other two monsters. Honestly, kind of just looking for some motivational stories from others who can help me and others on this journey. I wish everyone luck who still has these tests left.

I’m so sorry! It’s SUCH an uphill battle. I’m in the exact same boat. Failed REG again. 74 then 68. Ouch! And I just lost credit for BEC.

Hi All – keep at it. I failed FAR literally 6 times before passing which is so embarrasing. I started this journey back in 2014…..passed bec with an 80, failed far with 59, 71, 67, (took aud in between this and failed with 69) 70, 70,(lost bec at this point), took bec (failed with 70) back to far 73, then….passed BEC 79, passed far 79, passed aud 77……! you can do it and halfway is better than none at all!!! KEEP GOING! and drink all the wine too – i have had my fair share of wine, antidepressants (sadly enough), and tears. Good luck to you all.

I hope my struggles, pains and sufferings on how I passed the exam would motivate you. It took me 15 long months from start to finish and I was working at the time. During work, The lectures were playing over and over again through the Bluetooth headphone. At night, I studied with one eye closed, and one eye half opened. Dozing off with the book opened was a common occurrence. On top of that, I and my gf had a major fight at least once a month and many smaller one. Trust me, right after you are done with the exam, you dont know what to do with your free time anymore and start questioning your own existence.

@ForgottenOne I would get in fights too with my boyfriend and get extreme FOMO as he could mountain bike and run and workout and have fun while I had to study. He tore his acl in November which was horrible, but it honestly helped me to study as bad as that sounds…

I also think some people are just better test takers than some of us.

The failing BEC after having passed it part scared me. I’m goign to be retaking BEC after a bare pass from 2016

I am 40 years old and I remember taking the cpa exam right out of grad school when we used paper and pencil. Then it switched to computerized and I passed BEC and never got motivated to go any farther than that. I sort of studied for a bunch of years…don't really remember the amount of times I failed or took the exam but it went on for years. In 2016 I started studying for the exam due to work. I decided it was now or never because for me…I didn't want to continue studying in my mid to late 40's. I used Becker and Ninja for parts that I had problems with. I passed BEC and REG on my first try. I work in tax so I should pass and BEC for some reason I always seemed to pass over the years. I failed AUD in my first try in the 60's and then I took FAR and failed with a 49. I waited till after busy season and studied for AUD and passed in May and then lived at Starbucks and work studying for FAR. I passed FAR on my second recent attempt. My recc. is to keep calm and move steadily through out the exam. The 49 on FAR I remember throwing up in the bathroom during a break but I still went back and finished even though I knew I didn't have a chance. I thought seeing what the SIMS were like was important so on my retake I would have a better understanding and some experience on the exam. I hope this helps.

I failed AUD on my 3rd try 71,65,70.. I felt horrible last night, I burst into tears on my way to work this morning. I felt defeated. On top of it I have to take FAR this coming Sat though I am not well prepared. I cannot reschedule it because my NTS is expiring too. It makes me wanna quit but part of me is saying to continue. I have my last chance to pass AUD & FAR before my BEC expires in June.
Appreciate all your motivational story, it makes me feel better.

we are all in the same boat. I got a 74 after studying my ass off for AUD. Got a 68 the first time. I am deflated and wondering if I will even be able to pass FAR.

If I can pass REG and BEC and I am one point away on AUD I feel like I can pass AUD with a little more hard work. And if I can pass 3 sections of this exam, surely I can also pass FAR.

Those are my thoughts at least. This exam is just as mental as it is technical.

You are not alone, you can pass. Get pissed and harness that anger and frustration into motivation and get after it. Grind it out, put in more hours, and pass the damn test. The only way you wont become a CPA is if you quit. Don’t quit.

Found out i failed BEC this morning.. I, like many, started my journey back in 2014. I started with the beast (FAR) and failed. Then i took REG and barely passed with a 76 took AUD and failed with a 55 then FAR again passed with a 77 and now BEC failed 60… It just keeps going on and on and on… it got to the point that the women at the prometric center knew me.. one said oh, shes a regular.. I am now waiting for my AUD score on 3/20.. praying for a pass so that i will only have BEC to take.. I liked @Tipofga80 story he posted. Gave me motivation to keep going!!

I called my mother to let her know that i failed and she gave me the advice i needed.. Pull your big girl pants up and keep going.. you have come too far to quit!

@heidigail30 I too am waiting for my AUD score on the 20th. I got 73 the first time! I felt pretty good about the exam this time around because the MC questions were a breeze and only took me an hour, but the SIMS. It could probably go either way though right about now I can't even remember them or how I felt about them! Except for the last testlet because one of them was odd. Good luck to you!!! My experience: I took…
FAR – 2 times
REG – 5 times
BEC – 3 times
AUD – 2 times

Not too long ago, I was in your shoes, and in a very tight spot. FAR and REG done, waiting for AUD, not having passed BEC yet, with FAR expiring this April. This was all happening in Jan-Feb of this year and I just started with a new firm so trust me I know your pain.

That is also the order I took my exams in, because I wanted to jump right back into the material instead of forgetting it then coming back to it after a month(s), it just seemed too risky, plus I was too stubborn to accept failing all of those exams.

My advice to you:

1) Not only keep your head up, but push harder. What I mean by that is every time I found out I failed an exam, I couldn't wait to jump back into the material. I wouldn't say I was excited, but rather that I was pissed and wanted it all to be over as soon as possible. The most important part though, was that I KNEW I WAS GOING TO BECOME A CPA. You never wanna lose that internal fire that keeps you going, and I shamelessly admit FAILURE, time and time again, just kept lighting that fire up to the point where I said come hell or high water I am going to get this done.
2) As it pertains to the material, I find that giving specific advice like about the content of the exam or difficult sections can be a bit deceiving because everyone's exam experience is different. What I do want to say though is that above anything else, you absolutely must give it time. I don't mean get content, I mean go hard while still having patience. There's no ceiling on how much learning needs to happen in order to be ready to take these exams. You just study as much as you can and hope for the best, that's how it is.
3) I know you can do it, YOU know you can do it, every damn poster on this thread and this forum knows it, Jeff knows it, his staff does, all your linkedin connects… (you get the point)
– IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN!
You just have to completely confide in yourself and the habits you have developed to prepare for these exams, and allow that to serve as your foundation when time comes for battle.
