Depends on your level of knowledge/experience, but I'd recommend the book over the notes. I use it quite frequently to review the more complex areas. The notes are just outline formats and doesn't really give much detail in understanding concepts nor does it include all the material you need to know. Also the book at least gives summary questions along the way which helps.

My study method includes completing every single MCQ and taking my own notes on the questions I find more difficult or “need to know”…then I still like to use the book as well when I can. The NINJA notes themselves have been collecting dust honestly.

@BrickellCPA would you say hammering the MCQ explanations at the end of each one would be enough to go along with the notes? I hear some people really learn from those explanations

    FAR - 76

    AUD - 89

    BEC - 84

    REG - 86

It depends on how comfortable you are with the material. Unless you are roughly in the top 10% of super accountant CPA exam test takers, I wouldn't rely on MCQ and notes alone.

For the majority of test takers, the CPA exam is a test of endurance, which means thorough studying. The following skillsets are required of the material: remembering and understanding, application, analysis, and evaluation.

In other words, on the more difficult questions/concepts, the book helps gives you a more in depth and well-rounded understanding which you will need in order to correctly answer on test day.

As mentioned, I reference back to the book quite a bit. I also search the internet for supplemental material/research if needed.

Highly recommend the book (complete Ten Point Combo if possible).

I agree wit Brickell. For me…book over notes unless you think you'll be good at FAR. Go check out the CPA blueprints on AICPA and if you don't have extensive knowledge of prob 85% of the items listed, you might want the book.

I'm going to be the person who says "I finished even though..." not the person who says "I didn't finish because..."

    B - 77, 76

    A - 57, 64, 72, 76!

    R - 78, 72, 78!!! DONE

    F - 54, 73, 71, 64, 69, 76!
