Not much hope after taking REG

I just took REG today and felt really prepared. Multi choice were fine, but I knew I would need to do pretty well on the sims. I had to guess on 2 sims and I know I didnt get a single sim 100% correct besides the research. No amount of studying would have made those sims any easier. I guess I’ll be taking the new REG exam….

Hey, sorry if i sound like a downer, but that was the exact same way i felt and got a 73. I knew as soon as I submitted (was my last exam to take) I didn't pass cause I knew only 1 sim. Just retook it a week ago… i feel like I passed it but maybe I just hit acceptance after 7 months and working I dont care anymore lol but you never know. Just pray to the AICPA god/goddess and hope luck is on your side cause the scoring makes no sense.

I don't know what to do at this point. No extra amount of studying would have prepared me for 2 of those sims. And of course the other 3 had tricks in them.

Honestly, The worst part is they are changing the exam in April and it will take until August to get scores back. That is so ridiculous.

So I took REG back on Dec 9th, got the glorious score of 74. Retook the exam this morning. Anyone out there have experience with a 74 retake feeling much more confident on the retake? I'm a little nervous about feeling better b/c the BEC exam result I felt like I for sure was going to be retaking and then the REG in December I felt even worse than the BEC. Thanks for the input and encouragement.

Of course it's possible. For FAR I bombed the Sims and still got an 81.

Good lord, some of you people get so freaking down and out and start worrying and you have no clue what your score is.

If you studied hard and smart, trust your skills and have hope.

I took my REG first time in November and had a bad feeling about the SIMS, they were all derivative of the first answer. Of course I got a 72. I just took it on Monday. SIMS seemed to cooperate more with getting a passing score. They each were and independent item, except for the last one which it was just a nightmare, but like we all feel I am freaking out that I might have to take it in April as well.

For those who had trouble with the sims, did you use the AL at all? It saved my butt on a few of them.

First time I took REG I literally put 0's on all my sims and didn't answer the research. Ended up with a 68. If you at least got half the sims correct and did above average on the mcq's then you have a good chance of passing.

I've read quite a few posts from people taking it this window, stating that their sims were fairly straightforward. Hoping that's the case when I take it again.

Yeah, I was like you too (my sims were out of this world) and cried in the car while sitting in traffic on the way home. Have faith, don't think about the difficulty of the testlets, and just start planning for the next section (if you're planning to take FAR in this window).

And yes, I had to use the AL to understand the SIMs, it helped a lot.

To be fair I have never felt 100% confident on any of my sims …I tried my best on them and applied what I learned with the MCQ. But I didn’t finish ONE sim thinking…oh I totally slayed this. Maybe 1 really straightforward FAR Sim that I got lucky to get. And I was always at least comparable on my sims. You never know OP! Stay Positive

just got out of REG attempt #5. MCQs were a little touch but I think overall I could pull comparable. SIMs were not tough, more like, did you study the stupid least tested topics enough, can you research the hell out of it (if it were in the AL), and can you decipher one of the oddest SIMs out there. It's such a BS exam bc I studied BALLS TO THE WALL for attempt 4 & 5, knew corporate and property taxation like they were my own damn kids, individual tax like it was my adopted child and lo and behold, they test me on stuff you probably spent 20 minutes studying. Basically, they are running out of sh*t to ask you.

anyways, i had no idea how to do 2 SIMs, only confident on the research… do i have a chance? lol. ugh…
