    Hello Fellow Ninjas,

So, I took my FAR this Wednesday and I would like to share my unusual experience with you.

My first testlet was very easy and I felt over prepared. Second testlet was noticeably harder with many questions requiring multi step calculations. I could not tell whether my third testlet got easier or remained the same. It had a good mix of medium and hard questions.

I got to Sims with 2 hours remaining. To my surprise I was gifted with topics you all wish you had for easy pick up points. Can’t disclose what they are but Feel free to guess what they were. Not just one…but several questions were on a same topic… I have passed two exams so far and SIMS were always challenging for me. What happened here this time? I have no idea. Please share if you had a similar experience and passed!!!

That actually happened to me too. I got very easy sims for FAR to a point that I told myself that if I do not pass FAR this time, then this test is out of my league. Turns out I scored stronger on sims and passed FAR. I will say you have a strong chance of passing. I feel like SIMS are all about luck. I have seen sims that 75% of it is as easy as plugging zeros, and other sims that are almost impossible to even get partial credits on.

Had the same experience last Wednesday for my REG third attempt where my SIMS were not that difficult. Or probably because we studied a lot. There was one topic that has only 1 or 2 questions in the entire Gleim test bank but I have studied that as well.

    FAR - 88
    AUD - 86
    BEC - 82
    REG - 73, 70, 82

    FAR (Apr 2015) - 88
    AUD (July 2015) - 86
    BEC (Oct 2015) - 82
    REG - 73, 70, retake Sept 2016

@Loo, Mind sharing your score? I still feel like I failed. My only relief is that I know for sure I did well on the first testlet and feel pretty good on 5 out of 7 sims…
@Melody_pinaycpa, I hope that is the case. I found myself second guessing on many MCQs on 2nd testlet and some in 3rd… it scares me.

I got 81. My 2nd testlet was hard, but my 3rd testlet was beyond hard, and that is what brought my score perfect sims down.

Just some food for thought. The cpa test bundles medium and hard questions into testlets, but we all know there is no way that all the questions in the testlets are equally hard; therefore, if unluckily I were to get a nightmare level hard testlet and only get 10/30 right, I would probably score lower than a lucky guy who got a medium testlet that was quite easy and scored a 24/30. Moreover, just let it be, cannot gauge score according to testlet difficulty. But just by reading how well you did the simulations, I am pretty sure you got this.

at CHACPA…..I had exact FAR exam experience as your, Which i took last Wednesday 9/7
SIM very just like the way you said, plugging zero and move on to the next type of thing….
I had 19 minutes extra time to to go back and review!

I cannot wait to see my score….and yet am super anxious!

at CHACPA…..BTW, do you mind to share your study strategy for BEC? I got Becker products…and am thinking possibly to add 10 point combo/ninja???
which I think, it is unrealistic since I work full time and have to spend 2 hours commute per day!

    thanks

@berlin97, I too have a full time job and a part time job and am married with 3 kids…but my method seems to be very effective in both time saving and learning… So with BEC, I had about 5 weeks to prep w/ becker and I implemented little bit of ninja questions just to see how I was doing.
I went through all the materials. After watching each lecture(highlighting/underlining), I did the hw problems. I printed all the questions and ranked them by indicating stars on top of the page. Once I went through all 6 chapters, I had full stacks of paper sitting next to me. I never went back to book/video but just hammered away MCQs I printed. This methods not only helped me save lots of time, but gave me enough time to spend more time on troubled questions later on(after I had reviewed each and every mcq printed 4-5 times). I did Becker Final exam 1 2 weeks prior to the actual exam. Took Final exam 2 1 week prior to the exam. My scores were 65 and 55 respectively. HOpe this helps!

@CHACPA…..Thanks…I will stick with Becker for BEC now, if time permits will jazz it up with some Ninja MCQ.
I passed REG only using Becker, although it took 2 attempts!….I purchased NINJA MCQ while studying for REG, but found zero time to practice any of them!

I hope we both did a good job at FAR and passed, since it seems we had similar/semi-similar SIMs.
    thanks again

This is interesting…I had a similar experience with BEC in July (not Sim-related obviously). I was absolutely confused about my exam, I felt like it was so “easy” compared to the others that I'd already taken. In fact, I had almost the exact same calculation question asked 3 times in the same testlet (the question just changed the numbers). I walked out of the exam so confused and unsure of myself because I felt like it was “easy”. I ended up passing with an 83 but I think that happens sometimes where you just get thrown “easy” questions/sims. You are very fortunate!! Good luck to you!

    FAR - 76
    AUD - 74, 74
    BEC - 83
    REG - TBD
