It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that's changed? Thanks!January 3, 2017 at 2:54 pm #1406091
Took about 2 months. Applied in early Aug of 2016 and received license number online by late Sept of 2016. Good Luck!January 4, 2017 at 11:27 am #1422398
Thank you for asking this, I passed back in Feb, but I just completed my 150 credit hours and sent everything in yesterday.January 4, 2017 at 12:10 pm #1422453

depends on how fast all the paperwork gets to them, expect up to 6 monthsJanuary 9, 2017 at 2:15 pm #1427910
I confirmed they have everything and hopefully I'm making the right assumptions that now it just has to wait for the board to meet. I'll update when I hear back.June 21, 2017 at 5:52 pm #1575593
Any update CPA2021? I'm waiting myself, passed and submitted paperwork in March. When I called they told me everything was with the board. Well, the board has met 3 times since then and I'm still waiting…June 22, 2017 at 1:53 pm #1575841
In December 2016 the board was running 6-8 weeks out on reviews.
April 2017 they were running 10-12 weeks, and as of June 9th I was quoted 14-16 weeks once your material goes before the board.
I am waiting for approval to sit for the exam, not sure if my wait time is any different than yours.
I was told they lost the primary reviewer, and one support staff, and have not been able to replace those people.
The review work is falling on another staffer who also has to complete their own work in addition to the review work load.June 22, 2017 at 1:58 pm #1575842
I submitted everything on January 3rd … Licensed March 1st. Hope it helps.June 22, 2017 at 6:03 pm #1575953
They cashed my check late March. Called on May 1 & was told it was “with the board”. Still no license number showing online. I suppose I'll call again Monday.June 26, 2017 at 4:35 pm #1578200
Any updates when you called today?June 28, 2017 at 10:13 am #1578865
They said my application was sent to the board March 29 and the time frame is now 14-16 weeks.June 28, 2017 at 10:34 am #1578890
Geez Louise. 3-6 months?
Florida: 6 days.July 6, 2017 at 1:56 am #1582658
My application was sent to the board on March 31 (so virtually same timing) … was told same 14-16 weeks and have not heard anything.
Let me know if you hear and I will do the same from my end.
This wait is pretty brutal….July 6, 2017 at 10:08 am #1582717
NY CPA 92Participant
I was told that my information was forwarded to the CPA Board for review as of 4/18 and that at the time it was taking around 10-12 weeks. It is between the 11th and 12th week and I have not heard anything. However, I am assuming 14-16 weeks might be a more accurate timeline since se98 and DCA33 applied before me.July 7, 2017 at 3:52 pm #1583303
I'm just over 12 weeks now, still no word.
I'm planning to wait another 2 weeks then maybe call or e-mail to see if the time frame is still 14-16 or if it's grown.
If anyone else calls be sure to update.July 7, 2017 at 4:10 pm #1583315
From my experience with them thus far, and I could be wrong here (14 week mark hit today), they are the most helpful and responsive if you wait until the end of their communicated range.
However, 14 weeks of waiting makes one quite jaded.July 7, 2017 at 4:38 pm #1583329
understood, and solid advice. thanks
patience….July 7, 2017 at 10:34 pm #1583429
I've gotten very good customer service from both calling and emailing, shockingly quick and helpful employees, unfortunately, they just don't have much useful to tell me yet.July 9, 2017 at 9:56 am #1583723
My check was deposited March 28th. Had to actually tell my representative to send my 150hr rule evaluation summary report to the NYSED. They don't do it automatically.July 13, 2017 at 10:09 am #1585312
Check hit my bank April 10th, file went to the board on the 13th.
13 weeks today.
Any word DCA33? You should be at 15 weeks tomorrow I think.July 13, 2017 at 10:53 am #1585339
Planning on following up with them on the 15 week mark tomorrow morningJuly 13, 2017 at 11:07 am #1585346
I assume you are checking the NYS CPA website daily to look for your name?
Please advise what they tell you. I figure if we each make an effort to check on the status then no single person will get any marks on their file for being an annoyance.July 13, 2017 at 2:11 pm #1585408
From experience. Your name will appear on the NYS Office of Professions website a week or two before you receive any kind of notification in the mail. I would check website every other day/twice a week.July 13, 2017 at 3:08 pm #1585426
I am checking online every day, perhaps a bit compulsively. My 16 week mark will be the 19th so if I don't have a license number online the 21st I will be calling again.July 17, 2017 at 11:01 am #1586553
Any updates from NYS to see if they moved the 14-16 week window?July 17, 2017 at 1:19 pm #1586626
I believe the board is meeting today and tomorrow so I will give it until Friday before again asking for more information.July 17, 2017 at 4:10 pm #1586726
Same plan as se98 for meJuly 17, 2017 at 5:07 pm #1586781
That is a long wait time! T___T Please keep us updated. I just submitted all the paper work for the license last week and planning to call on 8/24. It is tiring to figure out a way to tell potential employers that I am waiting for my official license (without sounding like I am in the process of meeting the 3 E's requirements). I rather just have “CPA” at the end of my name.July 18, 2017 at 4:15 pm #1587248

Just curious how or why you know when the board is meeting?
I've tried to research more about the CPA board and this whole process and can't seem to find any useful information.
