It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

@arh79, Applying to sit for the exam and applying to be licensed are two separate processes. If you passed all your exams, you should fill out Form 1 and have a supervisor fill out Form 4B to be sent to NYS.
I just got my final passing grades yesterday and got both these forms sent out yesterday. From what I read, the process takes forever. So the quicker you complete and send the application, the better.

September 21, 2017 at 12:01 pm #1636057DCA33ParticipantOfficially received by license number today … and so ends this period which began March 31, 2017. Unreal how long that took, but happy it is all behind me.

September 21, 2017 at 5:04 pm #1636315cleethreeParticipant@DCA33, Congrats!!!! I hope to be there with you sooner rather than later. I just sent in my application on 9/19/2017 and praying they process the application quickly (hoping to be licensed by December, but I know that is clear a dream that will not happen).
Did you send in your application on March 31, 2017 or was that the date the board received it and began processing it? Any insight in the process would be helpful. I want this to be as smooth and quick as possible.

September 25, 2017 at 11:33 am #1638292DCA33ParticipantThank you! March 31 was the official day they gave me once it was sent to the board (and this date determines your standing in the review line). This was after all documents have been received and processed.
Basically all I can say is to make sure you are pretty diligent about following up with them to make sure they receive your documentation. I was delayed because the first person that submitted my 4b had some kind of problem renewing their license and that made their supervision effectively void. Because it is all so paper-oriented, you just want to take ownership of making sure your application is moving along.
Best of luck! And let me know if you have any specific questions down the line.

September 25, 2017 at 1:22 pm #1638379cleethreeParticipantThanks!! Both Form 1 and 4B were sent last week by certified mail, which I confirmed they received both last Friday.
There was a question on Form 1 that maybe you can help me out with. It was regarding, “Did NASBA approve your education for the 150 semester hour requirements? If Yes, please contact NASBA to ensure they have sent your education evaluation to the Department.” I am unsure if you took the 150 route, but I wanted to know if the NASBA does this when you initial sit for the exam and they do not have to do it again.
I contacted NASBA about this, but they never got back to me. So I don't know if I should just assume they did this or follow-up to confirm it.

September 25, 2017 at 4:46 pm #1638550DCA33ParticipantI think to be safe for this one I actually just requested that my Undergrad/Grad registrar send another form directly to play it safe. I would call NASBA, for them it is really the only way of getting through. They are very bad with email (at least in my experience). Being that you can sit for the exam with 120 credits, I am not sure if it is automatic that they send them automatically.
Sorry if I wasn't much help, but for this one I chose to not rely on NASBA and just had my schools submit additional form(s).

Thank you for the advice.

September 26, 2017 at 11:26 am #1638980AnonymousInactiveMy form 4B was mailed exactly 2 weeks ago and they claim they have not yet received it… I asked the lady if I should mail again, she did not know what to tell me other than give it 2 more weeks… Really, two more weeks to figure out if you received a form or not?!
September 26, 2017 at 2:24 pm #1639078ReckedParticipant@CPAshoes08 – I would suggest you begin the process of obtaining a new Form 4B and have it sent overnight. The $20 bucks for overnight delivery with tracking is money well spent.
There is of course the chance that your boss did not actually mail it perhaps? I am not sure the dynamic of the situation there but I suggest you start working on another copy of the form as a backup plan.@arh79 – I too have taken the 15 year pathway and would be very curious to hear what steps you have to take after you have completed the exam. I would assume your file would have to go before the board again for review of scores before your license was issued. It would be wishful thinking that they would just fast track you at this point. I would also confirm with NYS that they have received the passing scores from NASBA. The poster saying that application and license are 2 different processes is not aware that you already sent in the Form 1 to be approved via the 15 year path. Please keep me/us on your progress. I would also love to hear your exam and study experience using the 15 year path.
