So I’m at the end of my 18 month window. Got the dreaded 74 on my last exam, REG. I’ll lose FAR at the end of March. I test on Saturday for REG again and I’ve decided that this is it…my swan song so to speak. I passed FAR and BEC on the first try. Failed AUD twice with a 74 both times and passed on the third try. Got a 70 on my first REG attempt. I refuse to retake exams I’ve already passed. This ordeal has been nothing short of a nightmare. Buckets of money and time I’ll never get back. I’m not even sure it’s something I want anymore. I look at my kids and my wife and feel nothing but guilt and regret for taking so much time away from them. In hindsight I wish I had never started the journey.

Kudos to those of you who can be dedicated enough to take, and take, and retake these exams without giving up. I just wanted to thank everyone for their contributions. I lurked more than participated but I’ve definitely utilized the message board. Good luck everyone!

I'm almost in the same boat, I am on Month #15, passed 3 exams so far that are all still current (failed about 8 tests so far) and taking REG on Saturday – 5 days from now, and if I pass – I am all done, haven't practiced any MCQs yet for REG.

I am going to spend Monday-Friday doing 15-hour marathons each day, and do my usual 5-hour cramming review on Saturday morning, before taking the Exam on Saturday afternoon.

Monday-Friday each day: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. will be reading the book (goal of reading 70 pages a day), then spend 8 p.m. to midnight for doing MCQs. REG worries me the most when it comes to remembering details, at least with FAR or AUD the details to memorize were somewhat logical-based and the rules were mainly developed by accountants, while these Tax numbers and rules/deductions are arbitrary and created by elected representatives. There is a significant short-term memory aspect to REG, that is why I will be cramming everything into the final 5 days.

    BEC- passed 16 months ago

    AUD- passed 12 months ago

    FAR- passed 3 months ago

    REG- 69 , 63, 81

That's my birthday, so you'll definitely pass- it's science!

I can't blame you. I've been very lucky having not failed any, and waiting out the score releases is still gut wrenching. I walk out of every single exam cursing at God. I have no idea how anyone keeps it up for months and months, even 4-5 years. Somebody that takes 10-12 of these things and keeps coming back for more is absolutely tough as nails, a navy seal of the CPA profession. Nothing but absolute respect from me.

At any rate, just hit it hard as hell this week. You still have a lot of study time to focus on your weak areas. I'd love to see you kick REG's ass.

You can do this. Just practice the foundational elements and don't memorize MCQs or SIMS. Understand the why so you can figure out how to answer questions you may not even know. It took me 13 tests to pass (2 BEC, 2 REG, 3 AUD, and 7 FAR) and I came down to the wire just like you. If I can do it so can you. I too have a family of three and a wife at home and worked for a firm during tax season through this entire process over the course of the last two years. They too are dying for this to be over, but they are also rallying behind you and want this just as much as you. YOU GOT THIS!!!

    I HAVE a life now.

Thanks for the support everyone. I hopefully did enough to pass on Saturday. Of course, I can’t really tell
one way or the other. I will say the TBS sections seemed harder this time which is odd for me because those are where I show stronger.

I'm in the same situation. Will lose REG at the end of March if I don't get a passing score on FAR next week. I'm not anticipating a pass. I have considered talking to my boss in June and letting them know that I will no longer be pursuing the CPA at the end of this year. I'm giving it until 12/31/19 because I have until then to re-pass REG before I lose AUD, but if I don't manage to re-pass REG by then, I am 100% done.

I was in same situation as yours. If I had failed Audit, I would have lost BEC and FAR and back to square one. Funny thing is I passed AUDIT when I felt the worst. I even spend around $500 to Tutor and none of the topics tutor taught me came in the exam. If I were you, I would buy new TEST BANK and get new MCQs and SIMS done as many as time allow you to. You never know as there is nothing to lose. I WISH YOU GOOD LUCK.

Sorry everyone…I'm covered up at work right now and haven't really had time to check back in. I sadly failed with a 73 so I've lost REG and FAR. Everyone os encouraging me to give it one more shot so now I'll need to pass REG and FAR in this test window.

I bought Ninja for the test bank and am trending between 81 and 92% across the different topics. My plan is just to bang out MCQs and TBS between now and April 20. Hit FAR between April 20 and June 10 and pray. I'm listening to Ninja audio on my hour long commute to and from work everyday. Dragging myself out of bed at 4:30 every day and giving it 2 1/5 hours every evening. All day on Saturdays and Sundays.

Hopefully I can at least knock out REG even if I can't pass FAR again. REG and AUD were my killers because they are both the areas I'm least interested in and have the least amount of real world exposure. Luckily my AUD score is good til 3/2020.

It still sucks I'm having to pay to retake a test I've already passed, but I gotta play their game by their rules I guess.

Thanks for checking up and sorry I left everyone hanging.
