I’m currently scheduled to take my REG exam on 11/27. Yeah, I know. It’s right after Thanksgiving but when I originally scheduled it, it made sense.
I’m currently working in education so we’ll be off that entire week, which will allow me time to study, all day, as opposed to 4 hours.
I also chose that day because my daughter’s birthday party is 12/3, and I didn’t want to have to fight with the idea of planning a party while studying.
However, I’m now wondering if I’ve given myself enough time to study and review. With my current test date, I’ll have 6 weeks of studying ~4 hours a day, 6 days a week. I’ve only watched the videos and done the HW. I haven’t had time to rewrite the notes and I plan to go back through all of the HW until I get ~90%. I’m wondering if I should should keep my current testing day or move it back and give myself ~8weeks for REG.

I think you should keep it. I'm in the same boat. I had schedule my BEC exam for 11/30. I just started studying today! But I think the only way I will get committed is if I stick to my date. Push hard and try to pass. Like my manager told me. It is ok if you don't pass. You can always re-take early January and it will force you to study better. But if you do pass….then Great!!!. From today on…lets stick to studying and prepare for the test

Your intelligence has nothing to do with your score!  It's a matter of dedication, study habit and how well you test.

    Hi there,

I've actually been contemplating the same thing – rescheduling my exam – for a few weeks now. I've been so stressed, anxious, depressed, etc. I finally decided today to reschedule it and I immediately felt a sense of relief and calmness over me. I felt more confident in my ability to pass the exam by my NEW exam date (Jan 9) than I have been feeling about my current exam date (Dec 8). I'm so behind in studying due to a few other obligations I've had these past several weeks and there's just no way I'll be able to study everything and know it well enough by then. Life happens, it's not the end of the world, and now I'm not constantly worrying about whether or not I have enough time to study or if my chances of passing are high enough. I also gained a lot more energy after rescheduling my exam and did SO many things today that I've been putting off for weeks because “I need to study”. My productivity level has increased which is what I need to study!

As much as you and I want to get on with our lives, wouldn't you rather have confidence that you'll pass the first time, than rush to take the exam before you're ready and fail? Would you feel better if you overstudied or understudied? I currently gave myself an extra month to study and would rather “lose four weeks” than to lose more than that due to being discouraged, reapplying, rescheduling, and restudying. As much as I wanted to receive my score by Christmas and my birthday because someone at my church is a Warriors season ticket holder and said they would give me tickets if I passed…the reality is I'm still going to get tickets when I pass regardless of whether I get my score sooner or later. And I don't want to rush something that hasn't been feeling right. God's probably testing my patience, so I pushed it back and the fact that I felt a sense of peace overcome me, made me confident in my decision. I also did the same thing back in September when I took BEC. I extended my exam by an extra week and passed! Who knows if I would have passed had I left it at the original date I picked. I just wasn't ready.

I hope this helps. I want you to pass on your first attempt! Trust yourself! You know your situation better than any one of us on this forum! You have to live with the decision, not us. Do what's best for you. =)

@loveandbeloved Thank you!! I definitely needed to hear this. And your quote “”Direction is so much more important than speed”, was definitely for me. Without getting too biblical & spiritual on a public forum, I definitely think you were meant to read and respond to my post. Thank you! 🙂

Awww!!!! =D That makes me so happy!!!! I love that I was able to help you! I think God was talking to you but through me! <3 I had just watched a 4 part DVD series this weekend on Hearing the Voice of God. In one part, it explained the characteristics of God's voice and Satan's voice. Ooo, it was deep! lol. I would love to keep in touch or help you in any way I can through your CPA journey! I only know one person studying for the CPA exam. I joined this forum in hopes to broaden my circle of people studying for the exam.

I also think that if we're going to put all this time and effort into studying, we should plan on passing the exam when we schedule it. We should study hard, fight any distractions, and believe we can achieve aka have faith. We shouldn't plan on failing and think about what we can do better if we fail. No…that's foolish. Let's schedule the exam on a day where our chances of passing are high. God doesn't mind repeating himself if we don't hear him the first time. One of the many things I learned in that DVD series.
