I sent in my completed application to NYS last month and just found out today that it has gone to the state board for review. For what, if any, reason will the Board not approve my application?

The state board reviews all applications. I am in MN and I got my application in with the references thankfully before their 9/16 board meeting so my file was sent to the board for review on the 16th and approved and I received my license that afternoon. I would go the their website to see when their next board meeting is.

I think typically boards will reject applications because something in the education requirements doesn't add up, you might be missing documentation – minor things. If you're sure your application was complete and you met all of the requirements though, I wouldn't sweat it too much. It's still a bit nerve-wracking waiting though. 🙂

Like taxgeek83 said, it is normally education or experience. My state has a slow process, the staff have 30 days to review the application for completeness and let the candidate know if anything is missing. If they determine it is complete it goes to a committee review (which meets once a month) and they make a recommendation to the board (which also meets once a month) on whether to approve or deny a candidates application. The only reasons so far I have seen an application get denied is because of either lacking education or experience (because I am a nerd and read the minutes for several different meetings)
