Currently studying for my first CPA Exam, BEC, which is in march. Curious how in depth yall dive when going through the modules. I’ve done the first two chapters in just a few days(approx. 15hrs), but definitely haven’t “mastered” all the topics. Do yall just push through the material and at the end going back to the important topics, or is everyone spending the time to completely master a topic before they move on?

Personally, I have been powering through BEC and making detailed notes on my weakest areas in each section and areas that I have skipped through MCQs and Sims. I plan on going back and heavily reviewing my weaknesses during my last two weeks before my exam. I have never stopped to master any section while I am studying, because I feel like I get bogged down. At the same time, everyone is different. I think it depends on your study style. I am interested to find out other peoples approach as well.

I try to get to where I have a pretty good understanding of a topic before I just move on. Review is stressful for me, and I try to only put intense focus on the hardest of areas during that time. Even if I completely forget something, knowing it at one point makes relearning much much easier. I would not say that I “master” the sections though.

I would try to get solid scores in the 80's on 10 question quizzes before moving on to another section, or complete all the MCQs in that section before moving on.
Your review time will help you refresh, but you should have a pretty good handle on things going in to the review phase.
