    Hi Guys,

Took REG today and felt totally disappointed. REG is my last section . Last time took in December and failed with 72. I need to pass REG before Feb 28th . My BEC credit expires on Feb 28th.

I thought I prepared well. I bought BECKER supplementary questions which covered AMT and property taxes on top of the regular Becker self study exam review and Becker Final review.Total – 1983 MCQ’s + 242 MCQ’s.Also bought Gliem and Ninja Notes. Went throught Gliem’s SIMS.Took a week time off from work and also used the 10 days holiday in December for studying.

    MCQs:

    1st teslet : super easy
2nd testlet : very very difficult – Not able to answer at all.
    3rd testlet : Easy

SIMS : Didn’t had time to complete the DRS SIM.
: Research looked easy but confusing – Doesn’t know whether it is correct or not.

In total 2 SIMS kinda of confident.

Felt like did much better than in the REG first attempt.

Totally disappointed and depressed. For me REG seems to be the toughest among all 4 sections. If I fail I am not sure if I can retake REG and BEC again. Literally exhausted and tired. Also need to focus on my career and 16 months gone with this exams preparation.

Good luck to all of you 🙂

@Exch6084 – First testlet – maybe 5 or 6. Second testlet 2-3. Third testlet seemed like half of the questions. On the SIMs, I was confident on research and one other question because I found the answer in the AL. The one on statue of limitations I wasn't confident at all in my answers because I just didn't study that material. The other 3, I say partial because I had answers for everything but wasn't confident. After the exam I checked on a few things and was right on some and wrong on others. Hope this helps.

@jakesro- My exam I took on Monday was similar to your experience. The first testlet wasn't as easy as I hoped and few had me scratching my head. Couldn't tell if the other two were hard or medium, but I think it's because I did a ton of Gleim mcq's and they're much harder than the exam. I looked up the 2016 AICPA released questions and the hard ones seem similar to what I was seeing, but I guess it's mostly objective. Sims were more manageable than my first attempt, but still had a couple that I was unsure of. I know I nailed one and should hopefully get partial credit on the rest. Still not sure if I got the research right. I looked it up again after my exam and it seems correct, but the section where it's located feels off to me. Good luck to everyone waiting on their score next week!

@jakesro. Thank you bro. …. my exam was not similar to the other parts with a lot of random and a few repeated questions from the same area.
First testlet 6-7 (medium). Second testlet 3-4(Medium/easy). Third testlet 8-10 (very difficult and very very tricky, and long questions)(after exam i checked on 2 MCQs that i changed from correct answers to wrong, made me feel disappointed).

For SIMs were very random and not even similar to Becker SIMs at all(Two DRS), i was confident on research, partially sure on 3 (70% to 80%)and (50% on the other two) i pray to get a 75!

How many MCQs you flagged?? and how you are sure on the manageable simulations??…Good luck

@Exch6084- I'd say I flagged around 15. The manageable ones could go either way depending if my logic was correct about how they wanted them answered. That's what I hate most about sims is how they purposely try and trick you with weird formatting and unclear instructions. One of them I put a bunch of 0's because nothing else made any sense. Hopefully that one got thrown out. I'd feel a little better if I knew for a fact I got the research correct, but I'm not 100% I did.

Primary study material was Becker and got a 67 in November. I felt like I had memorized the answers in Becker so I added Ninja MCQ. I definitely thought the way the MCQ's were organized was helpful because you could really focus in on a specific topic. Also, if you don't already have the info, there is a list on Ninja that shows you the SIM # and topic it relates to.

I just got out of REG…PHEW! I have no idea what to think – the MCQs felt like they were medium-hard-medium…which makes me super nervous. The SIMs were pretty weird too – I had one SIM on a topic I've never even heard of (I went back and looked in both the Roger and Becker textbook after the test and the topic isn't covered!) – I had to do a fair amount of researching and guessing on that one, but I hope I at least got it partially correct. I also had a DRS SIM that was mind boggling. I've got my fingers crossed that I did enough for a 75 because I am so tired studying for this section!

i just got out of reg today….not really sure how to feel. my multiple choice testlets were decent on my end, there were some few answers that couldve gone either way but thats expected. i couldn't really tell whether my MCQ were getting harder or not, not sure if thats a good or bad thing. as for the sims, i know i got at least 2-3 of them 75% right. then there were 2 that i had absolutely no idea, like if they gave me all day to work on it i would never know, i couldn't even find anything on one of the topics in the AL so hopefully that was pre-test. and I'm pretty sure i got the research question.

all in all, i wasnt walking out of that like holy shit i definitely just failed like i was with audit. I wonder if that means i actually failed since thats how it usually goes with this test (feel good, u fail. feel bad, u pass) or me just being confident in how i did. i did a ton of mcq this time, didnt practice any sims really. i followed jeffs advice on doing mcq over practicing sims. honestly really no idea, it could be up in the air. i feel like how i felt after i got out of audit for my first try and i failed that, so if i had to guess i would say i failed, but I'm hoping to be surprised in a few weeks.

also, i think another part about reg and it being hard to tell how you did is the fact that the test is only 3 hours. the last time i took a 3 hour exam was BEC which was my first exam 8 months ago. It was a little weird only having 24 CMCQ and 6 sims. i feel like it gives u less of a chance to show what you know. there were some major topics that i thought would definitely be asked about and there was 0 questions on them.

@thebigguy1992 do you think Ninja MCQ prepared you well? I'm taking mine on the 10th and going over my weaker sections right now. I agree with Jeff. I never do the sims because I feel like its more important to study and try to understand the concepts, then waste time practicing sims that probably won't even show up.

Well I think its a mistake not to practice the SIMs (especially if you have Becker). The SIM is a great tool to help you enhance your understanding of the topic as a whole. If you're expecting to get a duplicate SIM on the actual exam, than you will be disappointed. Wouldn't that be stupid of the AICPA!

For me, I master the MC first and then I go on to the SIM. The SIM is a great self assessment to let me know if I really understand the material or not. If I struggle on the practice SIM, than I know I'm not ready and I do not understand the material conceptually.

However I would agree, the practice exam is a waste of time. Understanding why you got the question wrong is more important. It helps to answer than see the explanation right away. I have never taken any practice exam and manager to pass on first attempt.

@eli i mean i think it prepared me the best it possibly could have. i think it helped me the most out of any of the ninja products. there is still some questions on there that i wasnt sure about, and I'm not sure if thats if because they were pre test questions or not.

and i mean people can think its a mistake to not practice sims. its just for me – this is my 4th test now, and I've seen what works for me. I've seen that the more i practice multiple choice the better i seem to do. sometimes i get sims and i think to myself theres no way even practicing sims would have prepared me for this topic, so its just seems counter intuitive and maybe not as efficient to practice sims than it is to practice multiple choice. because multiple choice, you are preparing for that section, but it can also prepare you for sims. i cant really say the same as much for the other way around.

also this test, and my last audit test, i really started clicking on the ‘terms' and ‘references' links at the bottom of each multiple choice. i think that helped immensely on my second audit retake because it gives you a lot more explanations that really help strengthen your understanding. really recommend using that feature and not just glossing over the explanation that appears right below the green/red bar after you answer each question.

I take REG on Thursday – I've done nearly 3,000 MCQ and about 130 SIMs in the last month… Any recommendations on what I should do to beef up as much as possible in the next three days? Should I go through and choose MCQs from my lower scoring areas until I'm blue in the face or do a broad overview of everything?

My weakest area is Biz Law. I don't know how critical it is that I work on that ahead of tax though?

I test tomorrow. This past weekend I spent all day Saturday focusing on Tax (Ninja sections 4-6). Yesterday I focused on sections 1-3, then did Roger MCQs (10 from each section… there are 22 total). I probably did 300 to 400 MCQ over the weekend.

Today I'm going to do 40 MCQ from Ninja… focusing on trouble questions or last missed. Then I'll probably do 1 or 2 SIMs. Before bed, I'll do a high-level review of the text to see if anything sticks out.

Good luck on your exam tomorrow @CPYay. I am sure you got this! I sit on Thursday, so here's to a passing score for those of us sitting.

I've been on Ninja Audio/Notes non-stop. Doing some SIMs from Wiley, but other then that just Ninja MCQs through the adaptive phase.
