I passed the exams at California (not a nasba state).
I work at a public accounting firm at Colorado (a nasba state).
Not licensed yet, missing about 4 months of experience at the moment.

Is it worth anything to transfer scores from California to Colorado if I plan on staying at this firm for a while?

I ask because transfer scores between nasba states is a joke, but I’ve been told it’s more painful to do this between nasba & non-nasba state. Extra cost for transfer also needs to be factored in.

What limitations, if any, will I have as a California CPA vs a Colorado CPA when practicing in Colorado? People mention there could be problems w/ cross-border practice, but my signature won’t ever be needed on any of our attest/audit reports, so what am I missing?

I’ve seen many staffs/in-charges w/o licenses perform fieldwork w/o any issue.
Our firm only requires managers and above to be licensed.
After my first season, I’ve noticed our reports are signed by our firm, which is registered through out most of 50 states.

Everyone at my firm seems to believe I “need” Colorado license, but no one is able to articulate why. Anyone here can shed some light on this issue?
