For those who have both passed and failed…

What day of the week did you take the exam and how were your results in terms of passing vs failing?

A friend of mine was telling me that it was his superstition that he would take every test on Wednesday and that every other day he had taken one (i believe he had said monday, tuesday, friday) he had failed.

I know obviously learning the material is without a doubt the most important aspect, but I was just curious about everyone else’s results. Maybe in terms of near the beginning, middle, end of week allows for optimal study time (although i’m sure it depends on your schedule).

    Below is mine:

    Pass:
    Wednesday – 1
    Friday – 1

    Fail:
    Thursday – 1
    Friday – 3
    Saturday – 1

My first was a Saturday afternoon. My next is a Tuesday morning, only because it's the beginning of the testing window. I plan to take my other 2 on a Saturday afternoon if possible. I'm not a morning person, and I don't want to waste vacation time on exams.

It depends on what's available and how the window works. I have been preferring to take the exams on Wednesdays this year just because it works out for my schedule. I take off on Monday and Tuesday and have 4 basically full days of studying leading up to it, and then the firm gives me the day of the exam without using PTO. For BEC at the end of the last window, I opted to do it on Thursday since I had a concert on Friday after and tax school the Monday of that week. I studied a bit during tax school which was nice, but obviously I didn't have enough understanding on some concepts to push me over. I have it scheduled on a Wednesday next month. 🙂

Oh, and I ALWAYS schedule it in the afternoon. Like Jen, I'm not at all a morning person and the center is about an hour away from me in the city. It works to avoid rush hour so I'm not as worried about getting there on time. I generally get stuck in traffic coming home, but at least it gives me time to decompress after intently staring and thinking for 4 hours.

That was me replied in another thread. I failed REG 3 times with 74, 73, 74. So 1 day I was trying to schedule my REG again and accidentally found that I passed 2 of the exams on Wednesday. So I scheduled it on Wednesday and passed. Here is a list of the date I tried. (This is just my personal believe, nothing proofed)

Hah! I didn’t realized CPA exam taker is as superstitious as football fans. Lol. 😄

I took my first exam on a Sunday 12/3/2017. I pass so I don’t know if the day of the week plays a part on that.

On a side note to tickle superstitious people, I was given seat #13. I don’t like that number so I tried to ask for a new one but it’s the only one left. Went to my seat whispering… knock on wood… knock on wood. 😂😂😂

I agree with a few others above, I always schedule my exams for Mondays, as early as I could get. That way I had saturday to study, sunday to relax and do some light refresh. Would wake up nice and early Monday and get to the prometric center and do about 45 mins of light reading of my notes and then head in. Would shoot for an 8 or 8.30 appointment, worked well for me.

    Monday!

The firm I am at allows us to take the day off for the exam without dipping into PTO. I hit the books/MCQs hard Friday-Sunday and by Monday morning I'm ready to go.
