Me too – I started studying for it on May 20th(ish) and am just wrapping up now. I've worked about 600 MCQ/SIM, which is all I've had time for with work and stuff. Haven't yet practiced WC's but I'm a good writer and can usually write convincing arguments. Someone mentioned that the test is COSO and IT-heavy.

Just a disclaimer that I didn't take BEC in the new format. But, from my experience there really isn't a secret to passing BEC. It truly is totally random and all over the place. I can't speak for the sims, but the writing portion is just luck of the draw. Make sure to just study everything. I wouldn't worry about going super in depth with every single topic, especially with calculations. But make sure you do cover everything, know basic calculations, and at least have a good base line knowledge. Financial ratios, IT, cost accounting, etc. You'll probably see a little bit of it all.

I don't say that to make you nervous, because of the 3 I've taken I still think by far BEC has been “easiest” (if there was such a thing with this exam 🙂 ). Just make sure to be fully prepared to see anything.

A lot of people have asked in the past about the various BEC formulas – ratios and other equations and whatnot. It seems like about the only thing you can really do is memorize as many of them as you can and hope for the best. That's what I've done (with FAR too!)

I've heard that too, about the COSO and IT and the randomness! I haven't practiced WC's either but I'm working through MCQs.. Hopefully it all goes well

I wish I had a better grasp on IT.

Do you think it helps more to read over the chapters or to do more MCQs?

IT was probably 1/4 of the exam I took in DEC despite whatever the ranges the AICPA says IT would be. In one instance I got 4 MCQs in a row that were IT.

Does anyone know what topics to study for the new SIMS in BEC?

    AUD - 84
    BEC - 81
    FAR - NINJA in Training
    REG - 75
    AUD - 84

    BEC-  81

    REG-75

    FAR- TBD
