    Hi All!

I officially have one exam left (hopefully, I’ll find out AUD in Aug as well) and it is the dreaded BEC. I know that you all state the exam is so vast that you can’t really suggest certain topics, but if you could, what would those topics be? What advice would you have going into this exam?

I have three weeks to study and I am feeling good about it. I study about 3 hours at night and I am currently unassigned at work so I squeeze in around 3 more hours for that reason as well.

What materials are you using? Now for the record, I fell short with a 72, but I was close. I used Ninja MCQ mainly, and Ninja Plus for the lectures. I'm bad at learning from the book or notes, otherwise I probably would have passed.

If you do use Ninja, I would say run through Corporate Governance, Econ, and IT once, then spend all the remaining time on strategic planning, financial management, and operations management.

    Learn:

    -Variances
    -Applying overhead
    -Allocating costs
-Time value of money problems, including concepts like payback period, accounting rate of return

Other than that, there are odds and ends to go over. I don't know what the sims will be like, but I assume based on the four above

Hey! Congrats on passing all! I was wondering how you studied BEC in 3 weeks? I am trying to compress it into ~4 wks, but I don't know how to organize or even attempt this. Please give me any suggestions that will help me study “properly” that quickly to pass! Thank you

@panic@now Thanks! I actually pushed my exam back to end of August and gave myself five weeks to study. I had the three weeks left in May and felt like it wasn't enough to make me feel prepared.

What study material are you using? I used Becker and there are 6 chapter. I finished the 6 chapters in 4 weeks and then spent the last week reviewing. I would listen to the lecture, do the mcq for that lecture and take notes on questions I got wrong or just didn't feel confident enough about. I also took notes on ALL formulas and mnemonics.

@panicnow — I did BEC in 3 weeks studying full time! I found it very doable for full time study…not sure I would recommend it while working. I studied about ~40 hours a week, for 20 days (so pretty much 3 weeks, 120 hours).

My timeline: spend about 2 days on each chapter in becker (2 weeks), then 1 week on review (review 1 chapter a day). Some chapters take longer than others. 5 (econ) can be done in 1 long day or 1.5 days but 2 (finance) and 4(cost) take a longggg time. Just adjust where needed, but try to push through the material in 2 weeks and leave 1 for review.

@bbhyx that is intense! I tried to do that for FAR, get through the material once, then review a ton. But it didn't work out well. But I want to try to get BEC first attempt & in a shorter study time. I am currently working. 40 hrs a wk in public acct. So I basically just have evenings & (some) weekends. I noticed for FAR I was spending a lot of time going through the material, not enough time spent on review & practice, so I think it would be a good idea to just spend a few days on each chapter, take notes & move on. @reallytired I am using Becker as well. I am just kind of slow watching lectures & doing MC, so I don't know if I could get through 6 chapters in in 4 weeks, but I will need to to take it in Q4 before my NTS expires.

@panic@now, I also work in public and so I would get home from work around 5:30, start studying at 6 and study till 11-11:30 with maybe 30 minutes for a dinner break (husband normally cooked). I did this for AUD and BEC and passed both. I studied for five weeks for each exam. It is totally doable if you can sacrifice every weeknight and half of your weekend! I was miserable for sure, but just put my head down and fought through the studying. It is sooooo worth it, trust me. I get home now and don't know what to do with my free time.

@reallytired I need to try that. I intend to retake FAR first, so I am going through that stuff again. & then I will need to really hop onto BEC. Thanks for your tips. You have a great & supportive husband. I will try that. Every evening, (EVERY!!!) after work, study & get through Becker lectures & MC for 6 chapters in 4 weeks. Then review more. We'll see how it goes. I am feeling motivated now, bc I have down time and am organizing my schedule at work.. but once it comes to studying time….. blexx

@panic@now, You can DEFINITELY do this! My biggest advice is when you get home, do NOT go sit on the couch. Go straight to where you are studying and sit down and just go. Don't even let your brain think about doing anything other than studying. I usually would sit down, check A71 for 10-15 minutes, then dive right in. You've totally got this!

Hey @reallytired ! I had a quick Q.. trying to schedule things out. & give myself 4-5 wks for AUD & BEC ea. Since you work in public as well & know we get home around 6. Do you think it's possible to knock out two chapters a week. in ~3 wks, finish doing lectures, MC for ea ch, 2 a wk, after work. Since there's only 6 chapters. Then give myself 1-2 wks to reviews & stress weaker pts. Or is 2 chpts a wk a long shot with only a few hrs every evening?

@panic@now, How many hours are you considering a few? I think two chapters a week is doable, but I think you have to dedicate around 3-4 hours a night to make it realistic. Some chapters in BEC are huge, like B2 definitely took me 4 days. But other chapters are quicker, so it might not be exactly 2 a week. Maybe 1.5 one week and 2.5 another week.

If I were you, I would take 4 weeks for the chapters so you really get to know and understand them, so it is easier to review them at the end. It would be easier to remember how to do something than to relearn it because you rushed the first time around!

That is true, to spend more time going through the material & understanding than rushing & learning in review. makes sense. Thanks again! @reallytired a few.. as in like 7pm-11pm ish..
