    Thank you everyone!

I was hoping that my journey would encourage at least one person not to give up. It is easy to get discouraged, I have a few co-workers who tried and gave up, they now regret it. I did question if I could pass it when I lost REG but thought, Geez! I know how to read, I can do this!
I tell you it was such a zen moment, such a calm feeling when I received that final passing score on 12/19/2017, totally worth the struggle! But licensing…that was another 6 weeks(Thank you Nasba!-their time table didn't align with mine!) I couldn't get licensed until my state(TN) actually received the scores from Nasba. I was licensed on 2/1/2018.

    FAR

    Trending 78%
    Average 67%
    Actual 77%

This is the first time my score matched trending, usually it matched the average. Studied for a retake until score release. I covered 4600 questions this go.

    Yay Ninja!

    Hitz,

I left mine blank. I read and re-read the instructions to make sure that I didn't miss any instructions. In real journal entries I wouldn't put a zero and since it didn't specify I left them blank. I did use “no entry required” as per instructions if I didn't need additional journal entries.

I am retaking FAR on 12/10 and I am trying to get through 450 of “problem” questions this 4 day weekend, my goal is to understand why they are problem questions because I want to be done this quarter!

You may consider State Government. Most of the Performance Auditors in my State(TN) do not have have accounting degrees, but need to have a Masters. For financial/compliance auditing need to have the units to sit for the CPA to be considered. Just a thought.

First I would like to help military veterans in some aspect (My daughter is currently serving in Afghanistan – Go Navy!) and I think I would be interested in setting up a non-profit that would involve setting up community gardens in areas that do not have access to fresh vegetables and fruits at low or no cost to the residents. I would also envision the gardens to be organic and non-GMO as well. It is hard to pick just one thing!

MattCPA18: Preferred dividends are ALWAYS subtracted if they are cumulative and if they are non-cumulative ONLY if declared. I hope that helps.

I am 51 and graduated with a BS in Accounting in 2011, I am currently pursuing a Masters in Accounting and will complete it in 2015. So it is never too late. I didn't go when I should have so I am doing it for myself but the benefit has been that my son who dropped out of college has returned to college based on my accomplishments. So it is a win-win!
