Thank you all for your response.
Yeah yeah I know that me not having time to pack is not really an excuse. But as I mentioned, for some clients, we actually CANT bring our own lunch. As in our boss has told us not to. So at that point then what am I supposed to do? I guess I was mostly venting. Just not fair that I have to spend so much money on food. And it’s not even just the money. I try to stay in shape and every time I go on an audit, I put on weight.
I was actually hired as a tax person so it’s not like I was warned about all the traveling/eating out that would be required. That’s probably a topic for another question though.

Everyone at my office has theirs proudly hanging from their office wall. Since I am the only one without an office (work in a cubicle) I rather not even bring it into the office. Maybe I should open it just to verify that all the information is correct.AUD - 75

REG - 92Finally_a_CPAParticipantI can understand your disappointment. I failed two exams and the thought of just giving up crossed my mind in both occasions.
It's hard to give any suggestions as I don't know your study strategy.
I've never used Gleim but I'm a firm believer that not every review course is for everyone. I am glad I went with Roger and I know for a fact I would still be taking those exams if I had gone with Becker (I used my friend's reciew course for two weeks and it wasn't for me).
Also, how much time are you allocating to the CPA exam. How many hours per day/week? Are you taking notes? If so, do you actually review them? If you are like me and never ever go back to your notes, then why waste time taking them in the first place.AUD - 75

REG - 92"If you study, you will pass" - RogerFinally_a_CPAParticipantI had the same issue during my journey. However, I eventually stopped snacking as often and thay sort of helped.
If it makes you feel any better, 6 pounds in two years is not a lot assumming you sit all day as I used to.
A coworker of mine has been studying for about three months and hasn't even taken his first exam and the guy has put over 20 lbs, according to him. I actually believe him because his weight gain is very noticeable.AUD - 75

Yes, same professor.
I definitely think it is doable. You would have to spend all day doing the work but you've passed the CPA exams so I'm sure it wouldn't be anything new for you. There are 10 chapters and you have a hw assignment, 5-10 question quiz, lecture video, and two discussion postings per week. Oh, and a final exam. I think you cam honestly do without the lecture videos. You can have the power point slides open while taking the quiz.

REG - 92Finally_a_CPAParticipantPersonally, I wouldn't necessarily say it was easy but it was A LOT easier than any of the other sections even though I was burned out by the time I studied/took REG.
However, even though I do both audits and taxes, I've always preferred taxes so that might have something to do with it. As I said, I also do audits and I found the audit exam to be the hardest for me. I think it all boils down to everyone's strengths.

It really seemed like the UC Extension was the fastest route. Didnt check prices much because I just wanted to be done with this journey. took mine at UCSD. Not sure who your instructor is but within the first week, the instructor uploaded all of the material/exams for the class. She allowed us to work at our own pace and did let us know that if we wanted to finish early, wr could do so by completing all the work and then letting her know so she would be able to grade our work and post our grade early.
Personally, I chose to take it slow mostly because it was during tax season and didnt have the time. The class is easy but can be a bit time consuming.

REG - 92Finally_a_CPAParticipantThank you all for your great advice!
I hope it will eventually get easier. I just know that auditing is not really my thing but I guess I'll have to deal with it until I'm ready to move on to another firm.STP: You're right! I shouldn't feel weird about it. I will definitely do what you suggested.

REG - 92Finally_a_CPAParticipantI got a free REG cram course from Roger that I never really used. Mostly because I didn't have the time or need since I felt fairly confident about REG.
However, I did glance at it and didn't like it it doesn't really seem like a “cram” course because the book was almost as thick as the regular book. The cram lecture videos were probably only a couple of hours shorter than the originals.

Also, we all have a different opinion of test difficulty depending on our own strengths and weaknesses. For me, from easiest to hardest

REG - 92Finally_a_CPAParticipantI'm not really sure what your work schedule looks like but I'll tell you what my study schedule was like. I usually only work 5 8-hour days. I did study during one tax season working 9-10 hrs M-F and 6-8 hrs Sat. I would get up early everyday (and I'm not even a morning person) and head to the office and study two hours before work. During my lunch break, I would study for about 30 minutes. After work, depending on how late it was and how tired I felt, I would try to study for a couple of hours. I honestly think I actually did 90% of my studying in the 2 hrs before work. I don't think I ever actually studied productively after work but it made me feel guilty to not even try. I would also try to study a minimum of 10 hours on the weekends (both days).

Cage The CPA: Thank you!
Yes I am sure. Your friend and all IL CPAs are lucky. A coworker of mine will be renewing his license for the first time next month and CPE is required. It is prorated since he will not have been licensed for a full two years next month.AUD - 75
