I was 4/4 in Wave 1 of the January/February window and 0/4 for Wave 2. We’ll forget Wave 2 ever happened (and assume that the AICPA won’t delay BEC or release FAR second again) and march boldly forward with these predictions.

Joanne Vician (who graciously sent me score release info ahead of it being public) at the Illinois Board of Examiners retired after the Jan/Feb 2009 window, but left the readers of this site in good hands with a contact of hers…more to come on that later.

Here we go…

Here are the predictions for the April/May 2009 Wave 1 (NASBA) score release…

  • May 18 – BEC
  • May 20 – AUD
  • May 21 – REG
  • May 22 – FAR
  • Which means that IL, CA, VA, etc will get their scores…

  • May 15 – BEC
  • May 18 – AUD
  • May 19 – REG
  • May 20 – FAR
  • Like I said, Joanne left the candidates who read this site in good hands…as I get info on score releases, I will pass them along as I can…most likely via Twitter, as I can update it via my phone.

Update 5/11/2009 – NASBA Updates Score Release Process…

    Revised NASBA release prediction:

  • May 17 – BEC
  • May 15 – BEC actual NASBA release
  • May 19 – AUD
  • May 19 – AUD actual NASBA release
  • May 20 – REG
  • May 25 – REG actual NASBA release
  • May 21 – FAR
  • May 21 – FAR actual NASBA release

update 5/26/09 – (Two out of four ain’t bad…)

update: AICPA released BEC earlier than expected…here’s some bold prediction updates (reckless and not for the faint of heart…)

IL – you won’t get your AUD score until the Wave 2 AUD release happens…when they release a section in Wave 2 – it’s everyone – Wave 1 and 2 people together.

Even though there will be BEC people who only took BEC a few weeks earlier – they will get their score in Wave 2 before you do…that’s just how it works, unfortunately.

  2. Lisa 26. May, 2009 at 12:50 pm

    Ok. Thanks for your input.

  3. A - TX REG 26. May, 2009 at 12:50 pm

Hey all Texas wave 1 people, I spoke with the board this afternoon and they said that they were still receiving REG scores from NASBA. The rep said that she did not know when the scores will be posted to the website.
I’m guessing that thats her default answer…but I have a feeling that REG scores will be posted tonight or tomorrow.

  4. Michael 26. May, 2009 at 12:56 pm

Anyone received their REG score in WA? Does any other state use Castle Worldwide to release scores rather than NASBA website. Historically Castle’s releases fall real close with Jeff’s predictions but no REG yet.

  5. Anonymous 26. May, 2009 at 1:05 pm

    Jeff:

Now that wave 1 is unfortunately over, what are the predictions for wave 2.
I am expect FAR (last paper) in MA

80 on REG on Oklahoma, great motivation for BEC Friday!

  7. Nan 26. May, 2009 at 1:41 pm

Thanks for keeping us updated, Jeff. Anxiously awaiting Wave 2 dates. (As are my poor bitten fingernails….)

BTW, I liked 100 posts per page better. It’s too difficult to follow a question-answer sequence with only 10 per page.

  8. Jeff - another71.com 26. May, 2009 at 1:50 pm

Thanks for letting me know Nan…I was experimenting with 10…it allows people to keep track of what page they were on instead of trying to find the last post they read in a sea of 100 posts.

I’m just trying it…if too many people hate it, I’ll change it back.

  10. NASBA-AUD 1st Wave 26. May, 2009 at 2:26 pm

Just talked to NASBA rep regarding OH-Aud. I am not sure about other states but he said 1st wave for AUD will be still going on till the first week of June and might want to check the score tomorrow and this Friday. He said next week is still in play. I am just keeping my fingers crossed.

  11. Anonymous 26. May, 2009 at 2:27 pm

I will be around less since I am DONE, but I agree with Nan. Just my 2 cents.

  14. anonymous 26. May, 2009 at 2:37 pm

I was told the same thing for Wave 1 AUD in Ohio. The rep I spoke with told me he knew for a fact that they were receiving more scores THIS week…..Not questioning the information you have provided to us Jeff, that is just the info passed along to me by the NASBA rep. Also, I checked today, and my scores from past windows which had still been up previously have disappeared. Hopeful I may get something tonight!

I was wondering the same thing too. I wasn’t able to see my old scores last few times when they were updating the scores. Then got back when people start to post score release. I believe those were missing since last Saturday night. Hope this is a sign for the update. Jeff – I know you said 1st wave is done but do you know it is for all of the NASBA states? I am wondering if NASBA do the process per state basis. I’m thinking you, Jeff, are probably right but don’t want to give up my hope till next week.

  19. AL FAR 26. May, 2009 at 3:07 pm

Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get scores if scores are mailed only? (no website to check) Wondering how long I should be anxiously looking into the mailbox before resigning that my FAR score (taken 4/23) will not be there until mid-late June.

  20. AO 26. May, 2009 at 3:46 pm

I took AUD on April 6th and am still waiting for my score…impatiently. This is so frustrating!!! I can’t believe it takes this long.

  21. Leanne 26. May, 2009 at 3:56 pm

I’ve called NASBA 3 separate times, and each person I spoke with gave me a different answer about when I can expect my test results… I took the BEC exam in Wisconsin on April 18th and one person from NASBA told me that Wisconsin waits for all test results, so we should be seeing something by the end of the month or early next month, another person from NASBA said that all of the test results are in for BEC, so I have to wait until the third week in June because I am in wave 2, and a third person from NASBA said that it could be anytime within the next month or two until I receive the results……does anyone have any valid insight for Wisco?? Seriously, does it really take 3 months to grade a 90 question multiple choice test??

  22. Pam (TX) 26. May, 2009 at 4:30 pm

Any scores from Texas for REG?

  23. Anonymous 26. May, 2009 at 4:36 pm

Pam, I hope we get them tomorrow! Usually, Texas is only 1-2 days after IL releases. :-/

  24. FL REG 26. May, 2009 at 4:43 pm

So I failed REG and my husband asks why I didn’t study. I guess people who don’t go through tax season don’t understand that it is already difficult enough to have to work 60+ hrs a week and try to find time to do anything else. Especially when you add on Board meetings for an organization I’m on the Board of and training for a half marathon. I didn’t have much of a choice but to take the exam at the end of tax season because my 6 month window was expiring so I crammed the weekend before and ended up failing. What else was I supposed to do? It’s hard working in public accounting and having to manage clients and staff all day with a significant workload during tax season so it’s unfair that someone that has never been through it would say something like that. I guess he just doesn’t get it and never will!

  25. Nan 26. May, 2009 at 4:45 pm

“AL FAR says: Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get scores if scores are mailed only? (no website to check).”

Al, NASBA mailed my BEC score one business day after it was released (I checked the postmark date), and the letter took another two days to arrive.

With FAR Wave 1 being released last Thursday, the mailed-out reports should be arriving between now and this Thursday. Of course, sometimes the USPS mis-routes the mail I’ve sent out myself. I could tell you horror stories about lost, damaged, and mis-directed mail.

If you don’t have a letter in hand by Friday you might consider calling NASBA.

Has anyone out there passed a section of the exam but didn’t finish it?

  27. Anonymous 26. May, 2009 at 5:09 pm

Let me clarify my question: has anyone been working on a simulation and it timed out in the middle of it (so you didn’t finish), but you still received a passing score?

  28. JP 26. May, 2009 at 5:09 pm

    Jeff,

What about the rest of FAR, do you predict that to be in Wave 2 like you do audit??

I didn’t finish my 2nd simulation for FAR. I completely didn’t do the research tab, and I left 1/2 of another tab blank. I passed with a 93.

    has anyone got texas scores?

  34. Michelle-AL 26. May, 2009 at 5:52 pm

To those with online scoring….be very thankful that you have it!

I’m in Alabama (no online posting) and waiting on BEC and REG scores.

The State Board in AL says I am on the list for early release for both parts. Come on June 5th….at least I’ll know my destiny. Until then I’ll continue to have panic attacks thinking about it. I already have FAR and AUD but lose FAR if I didn’t pass both of these.

  35. Anonymous 26. May, 2009 at 6:02 pm

Does your score on MCs affect the way your Simulations are graded. I read these stories about people who only complete one sim and still score in the 90s.

    Hi Jeff !!!

I took my exams in Los Angeles and registered with the COLORADO board.

I took my exams on April 1, 2 & 3. I have got the scores for

    (1) BEC
    (2) AUD
    (3) REG

But the FAR which i took on April 2, is still not out…

Any ideas on what it means???

  46. Jeff - another71.com 26. May, 2009 at 8:18 pm

    Well done Lisa, CPA…you’re awesome!

Kush – as others have said…no worries…I have yet to hear of someone’s score appearing…disappearing…and then changing.

Suneel – it is probably due to you getting a new simulation…which automatically puts you in Wave 2.

OKpoke…I was just in Edmond this past weekend…random fact. Congrats on REG..bet it feels good getting that beast behind you.

re: “test” sims…there are no “test” sims…there may be some “test” tabs on a sim…and one written communication is not graded…but both sims count.

Scores for CA FAR that came out in Wave 1 are out, they came out last week. You were bumped to Wave 2. So was I. This is your first and my last . . . it sucks, eh? Oh well . . . just keep studying for your next one and circle back to FAR if you don’t pass. You can’t wait for your scores to be published before moving on to the next exam, you’ll end up having your 18-month window expire if you have to retake more than one or two . . . and you don’t want to do that if you can help it.

So . . . I’m back to waiting for another 4 weeks. Ugh. Passed AUD, then REG, then BEC and then CA Ethics while I am waiting for FAR . . . . and we wait . . . .

  52. Anxiously awaiting AUD in OH 26. May, 2009 at 10:00 pm

Per the Ohio Audit discussions above, I noticed that my scores from the Jan/Feb testing window also disappeared this past weekend. Mine disappeared around 11pm on Friday night. I have not received my Audit score yet (sat for it on 5/2), and Jeff – I believe you that we will have to wait until wave 2, but I’m checking everyday just in case. I really don’t want to wait another month. :(

Also – for those of you who are compulsive checkers like me, you may want to check out Internet Owl. It’s a free download and will tell you when a website has changed and can even send you an e-mail when a change has occured. I have it checking my score every hour just in case.

People in TX waiting for their Reg scores-

If you look on the tsbpa website and click on REG, it will show you what your tentative score is. It is waiting to be validated but I called the board and they said that score usually never changes. It’s been a long wait but alas, it’s finally here!

  77. Anonymous 27. May, 2009 at 11:16 am

I just realized that I cannot account for what happened last week . . . delayed report . . . missed deadlines. . . what happened? Ans = Jeff’s + NASBA’s fault – I spent most of the time checking result and reading comments here. Still I did not get my FAR result – its the last part for me. Now playing catch-up at work today.

My third testlet was very weird – strange questions that I dont know whether they are CPA questions or some Psychology questions that got mixed up with FAR (for real) and to add insult to injury my exam was interrupted briefly by network failure . . .

Jeff, thanks for this website. Please post the guestimates for 2nd wave, it will probably keep me sane.

Leanne from WI: I took BEC on 4/9 and have not received my score yet. I know two other people who took BEC and REG between 4/3 and 4/8 and they have not received their scores either. One of the girls emailed the WI exam coordinator today and received the following response:

“Scores from the first set received are due to be released at the beginning of next week as long as all scores have been received.”

So, hopefully early next week, we will have them….I understand your frustration!

Is there anyone who haven’t received score report form 1st Wave? I took my exam early April and I was able to check my advisory score online, but I haven’t gotten my report yet.

Hi Liz – I don’t think that we receive the report until September (atleast for Georgia). I could be wrong, but I remember reading that somewhere.
