Week 11:

Hello all, I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I spent the week of Thanksgiving doing the family thing. It was great, I had the day after Thanksgiving off and did a weekend trip with my wife and girls. It really felt like a miny vacation and I feel recharged.

Now, I am attacking FAR once again. I requested the updated 2011 materials from Becker and am waiting for them to arrive. I am sticking with Becker for this last attempt. I know my weak spots and will add additional time to focus on those areas, as I go through the Becker lectures. I sincerely hope this works, after the exam, I am moving onto REG and BEC, regardless of the FAR outcome (fingers crossed).

Even though I haven’t received the updated materials, I started listening to Chapter 1 this week and have gotten through all except Fair Value. I figure the GAAP part isn’t changing, so it will be a good review. I’ve only spent about 4 hours between Monday and Thursday, but I plan to read through the notes, do the homework and supplemental questions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Definitely off to a slow start, but I plan to pick up the pace this coming week.

I hope to get through a chapter a week at first. I have time off at the end of December, so I expect I may be able to double up my time spent studying during that week. Ultimately, I plan to schedule my exam in late January (best case), early to mid-February (worst case). Let’s see how much of this stuff I actually remember.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Can I ask you a question? I'm studying for FAR (2nd attempt) and was wondering if there is many change in 2011 becker (other than IFRS). I actually studied with 2009 becker review but cannot afford to buy 2011 becker and wanted to know if there is big differnece. Good luck on your studying!
