Week 13:

Jeff's note – unfortunately, I was a little late in posting Jay's last update…so you get 2 from Jay in the same Day. Hey, that rhymed.

Hello All. As I write this update, I’m eager to win one of Jeff’s awesome prizes for Christmas tomorrow afternoon. However, Christmas has come early for me this year. I got my AUD scores last Friday and I passed my first part of the CPA exam. It definitely helps give me a little bit of confidence that I’ve sorely needed.

Now, about that European Vacation….

I’m not sure, but if I had to guess, I’d say Chevy Chase’s European Vacation went smoother than mine (so far, at least). So we had my family over for early Christmas dinner on Saturday, all goes well, except the studying (no hours logged Saturday). Sunday Morning, we do the whole Christmas gift thing with my wife’s brother and sister, breakfast, etc…Great, so far. I hit the library for 4 hours, but when I returned my stomach was very queasy and we are supposed to fly out Tuesday evening.

Well, I spent Sunday night vomiting and slept with a bucket on the side of my bed. I had the shakes, woke up every hour on the hour and vomited 4 times. Needless to say, I went to see a doctor on Monday, as there was no way I could fly with those conditions. I got some medicine and spent the day on the couch sleeping. I felt significantly better Tuesday morning and went into the office for a few hours to wrap up a few things. For those who may not know, Europe has had quite a cold snap over the last few weeks and has been hit with a lot of snow (for them, at least).

Well, they closed down the airport that we were supposed to be flying into and all surrounding airports were also closing on Tuesday. Flight canceled indefinitely! Imagine trying to rebook a flight during Christmas week, it ain’t happening, there is nothing available and the airline had no information on new flights being added. Well, I write this update on Thursday evening from my New York suburb home. The earliest flight we could get, was one that was added on Christmas Day, so the heck with it, we’re going to Europe for New Year’s! Any other trip, we would probably cancel and take the refund, but we are going to see all of my wife’s family.

So anyway, I’ll let you know if my European Vacation gets any better. The airports reopened on Wednesday, but were shuttered again today due to heavy snow, so it’s anyone’s guess what will happen on Christmas day.

After all this drama, I’ve logged 11.5 hours this week. As I mentioned, last week, I do expect to log significantly more when I actually get there, so possibly 30+ hours for next week’s update (hopefully from Europe).

Merry Christmas to all and good luck in Jeff’s giveaway.

Congratulations on AUD! Hope you are enjoying your vacation and getting much studying done. Somehow I am not picturing the kids sleeping the entire flight, no delays and lots 'o quiet, alone-time. Good luck. I haven't started studying yet. Enjoy some time off (from studying and work at least). Happy New Year! 2011 will be our year!!
