Week 7:

Hello All. Here’s my progress for the week. If you recall, I had my niece’s confirmation last Saturday and as expected, I didn’t get any CPA Exam studying done that day. I really buckled down and did 8 hours on Sunday and even took a break in the middle of the day to take my family to the park for two hours.

I was really set on 10 hour date in the library with my CPA Review Course, but the weather in NY on Saturday was phenomenal, 70 degrees, sunny and no breeze. I suggested my wife get the kids outside for a bit to burn some energy and she laughed at me. I have a 3 yr old and an 18 month old and they are really tough to manage at the park due to the age difference.

Actually, they are unmanageable, as the 3yr old is running all over the place and the 18 month old thinks she’s a 3 yr old and tries to keep up, which is dangerous. You guessed it, Dad took all 3 girls to the park for a few hours for some safe family fun.

Plans to study during lunch went completely up in smoke this week. I ended up eating lunch at my desk while working every day this week. I will try it again next week as I only have a bit over 2 weeks left. I did 3.5 hours after work on Monday and Wednesday and nothing on Tuesday or Thursday. I hoped to wake up early and studying Friday morning for an hour before work and then 3-4 hours in the library on Friday night. The good thing is that I’ve reviewed Chapter 1 and started on Chapter 2, so will keep drilling the questions and reviewing over the next 2 weeks. I’m only getting low to mid 70’s on the homework questions, but as I keep reviewing over and over I hope those will begin increasing.

We had scheduled a trip to Sesame Place with my sister in law and her kids this past Saturday, as they do a great Halloween theme for the kids, but I told my wife this week that I just can’t afford to give up 5-8 hours of study time on Saturday. She was disappointed, but luckily we hadn’t mentioned to the kids, so they were not letdown. Maybe they do a Thanksgiving theme too? I will have to look into it.

My plan for Saturday and Sunday was 5 hours minimum each day at the library and then 3-4 hours a night on Mon-Thurs, coupled with 30-45 minutes during lunch time each day. I’m on a mission for the next two weeks, so stay out of my way and wish me luck.

Good luck! When is your test? I think you said you are using Becker. I would highly recommend doing a practice final before your exam. I did and I think that got me what I needed to pass.
