Auditing & Attestation on Monday

Week 9:

Hello all. D-Day is here. I’m scheduled to take Auditing on Monday afternoon. I feel pretty good. I’m certainly not an expert, but given the multiple choice format, I’m doing okay at picking the best answers.

I took a simulated exam today and scored a 77, but that’s deceiving. I scored Mid 80’s on all topics except Chapter 5, so I spent a few hours focusing on GAGAS and Sampling today. I have a bad habit of flying through the last chapter and not giving it the respect it deserves, but after Governmental and NFP kicked my butt on FAR, I will not allow that to be a factor.

I’m going to do a two full practice exams this weekend, review any incorrect answers and then do Wiley CPA Review Questions from those areas, as well. I’m not going to overdo it on Sunday, but I’m definitely not going to waste a study day. I need to keep this stuff ingrained in my head or it’ll be a goner.

I have hit this material hard during the past week, so as long as the review questions are a good representation of the actual difficulty level of the exam, I should be in pretty decent shape.

I spent 8 hours in the library on Saturday and Sunday of this past weekend, 4 hours each on Mon/Tues, 3.5 hours on Weds and 11 hours today. Bond markets were closed Thursday, so I went to the library from 8am-2pm, took a break for lunch and went back from 5pm-10pm.

I did man the Blackberry intermittently, but it was generally very quiet, so all in all in all a successful day. I also studied while I ate lunch two days this week, so I got about 40 minutes on each of those days. This is my last push on Audit, I guess we’ll see how it works out. I will let you know how it goes.
