Week 39

Hello all. What a relaxing week. We went on vacation this past week and it was so relaxing. We did a beach vacation, spent quality time with my family, went for a 2-3 mile run each evening before dinner, soaked in the rays during the day and managed to work in REG study time for 3 hours each day. All in all a great trip and now it’s back to work.

I logged 22 hours during the past week and have made it through Becker REG Chapter 3 – Corporate Taxation. I have also started the first part of Chapter 4 – Partnership Taxation. I have spent much time on these first few chapters of REG, but I hope this will be time well spent, because I have a feeling this exam will focus largely on Taxation and a bit less on the Ethics and Business Law areas.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure those areas are thoroughly tested as well, however I think they will be easier to work through than taxation questions, given my professional background.

I have read about many people getting slammed with materials which they were unfamiliar with, so I am planning to supplement my Becker materials with Wiley. I plan to start supplementing Wiley questions this week. Only about six weeks remain, so I’m really focusing, because I really want this to be my last battle with the CPA.

My plan for the coming week is to do Wiley MCQ questions on Corporations and Individuals, as well as to finish up Chapter 4 – Partnership Taxation. I hope once I make it through Partnership Taxation, the material will move more quickly than it has thus far. These first 4 chapters feel like they have dragged so slowly, I can’t even describe it (procrastination hasn’t helped).

Wishing a good week to all!
