Week 42

Hello all. I made good progress last week. I finished up what was remaining of Chapter 5 and I made it through Chapter 6. I have 22 days to go and only 1 chapter remaining to complete the Becker course on REG.

As I expected, Contracts, Sales, Commercial Paper, Suretyship and Money Laundering topics are easier than tax, so I’m moving through these chapters pretty quickly. I spent 23 hours studying this week, which is right about on target. I hope to up that a bit to 25+ for the remaining weeks.

If all goes according to plan, I will finish chapter 7 about two thirds through this week and will then begin my reviewing. By reviewing I mean, reworking the MCQ’s, working the MCQ’s on Wiley. I think I’ve already mentioned, it seems like the feedback from many people is that using multiple course materials is recommended.

My only concern at the moment is whether 2 weeks will be enough reviewing to get all that tax material fresh in my mind again. That gets me a bit nervous at the moment, because I don’t feel like I know that tax information very well.

I was planning on taking a week off from work before the exam, but all this madness in the market over the past 10 days, as well as the debt downgrade are making work very hectic and the likelihood of time off seems to be quickly fading. It’s unfortunate, but appears like the market and economy are going to continue teetering for the foreseeable future.

On a lighter note, my wife must have just had a couple bad days the prior week, because she’s back to her normal self. She’s holding down this household like a champ. Three weeks to go until Dad’s back in the saddle.

Thanks for all your kind comments and suggestions. Good luck to everyone studying for an August exam and please do send any advice you may have for REG. All your suggestions are appreciated.

R5-7 seem to flow, especially with Olinto explaining the material; however, I find myself bombing the questions. Hope you get some time off to review. Good luck!
