    Hi
I am Esam and I am planning to re-perform the REG again after the first attempt on 23 of May 2017!
I switched from Gleim to Surgent, hope this will help for a quick study since my exam date on 3rd of Oct 2017 before losing the FAR credit on 4th of Oct 2017!

Hi there! I failed REG 3 times and have to retake it again before Oct 11th (before my AUD credit expires). I'm using Gleim and Ninja MCQ, Notes and Audio. I got 72 on my latest attempt. The score report says I was stronger in every topic besides Corporate Tax; I was comparable in Corporate Tax. How the hell did I manage to fail with this kind of score report, I have no clue.
Anyways, here I am. Planning on overstudying this time. 4th time's a charm? lol

Hi everyone! I'm Darya. I cut corners in my prep for previous attempts, so hoping to finally roll up my sleeves and learn areas I don't want to learn. I'm going to try to schedule the retake first week in December.

Taxation of entities is consistently my weakest area – studying S-Corps right now.

    “Without E&P distributions are tax-free,
    Unless basis ceases to be.
    Then remaining distributions' excess
    Becomes capital gains taxable.”
    – written out of desperation –

    Good luck!

Best of luck to everyone taking REG this week! I am going to touch up on my weaker areas (estate/trust, AMT/ACE,ESO related questions) then slam Becker/Ninja MCQ until test time. So ready to get this beast over with on Friday.

Farr, an unmarried taxpayer, had $70,000 of adjusted gross income and the following deductions for regular income tax purposes:

Home mortgage interest on a loan to acquire
    a principal residence $11,000
    Miscellaneous itemized deductions above the
    threshold limitation 2,000

What are Farr's total allowable itemized deductions for computing alternative minimum taxable income?

    Answer: 11,000.

I thought the answer was 13,000? I thought any Misc. Itemized deductions above the 2 percent threshold were deductible?
I guess according to this answer above the 2 percent deduction for Misc. Itemized deductions are added back?

@Lamis just started studying. Would you say it's worth it to memorize Forms? For example disclosure is Form 8245 (i think) etc?

Also what about memorizing the actual section numbers of the tax law. I would expect them to ask about section 179 deductions but do they actually mention section 179?

In reviewing schedule A itemized deductions, specifically related to medical expenses, I noticed the threshold is 10%. However, in some older material the alternative minimum tax adjustements include the transition from using 7.5% threshold to the 10% threshold. Does anyone know if there is a similar adjustment for alternative minimum tax if the regular taxable income is already calculated with the 10% threshold?

    Thanks

No I studied Becker and ninja MCQs and still the exam was harder than all practice exams had , I can say there was very few direct questions , other than that , everything was diving deeply into details .. the DRS was extreme annoying about partnerships and s corps , even the research q had to search for it about 10 mins till I find it ,there was one sim abt depreciation it was okay and charitable contributions & “sponsoring a team players”is that charity man? No idea lol.
Limited partner promised to contribute capital is that enforceable or should be in writing? No idea too lol
    I JUST WANNA GET 75!!!

@Jsn3004 When calculating your AMTI you lose your 2% deductions (if you chose to itemize). You also loose your state income tax and personal property tax deductions. So if the problem gives you amnts deducted from AGI and asks to calculate AMTI, you just simply add those not allowable items back. Hope this helps!
