Focus, Focus, Focus: Time to Suck it up and Pass FAR

NINJA CPA Review

David is a NINJA CPA Blogger.

As mentioned in my last post, I received a 74 on FAR, when a 75 would have licensed me … and it caused me to lose credit for REG. I am now having a hard time focusing on the retake of FAR on October 17.

When I received the 74, my brain went into a funk. What questions would have got me over the edge? What sections should I focus more on?

My results said above average on the SIMS and lower than average on all MCQs except government. Government?!?! That was my weak area?!.

That being said, I started back on page 1, and decided to do the entire book again, page by page. As I'm going through it, though, I started to lose concentration: “I know all this, I just studied all this stuff for 4 months.” My mind wandered … my motivation lacked.

Then I realize I am half way home, and my goal is to pass the final 2 parts in this window, so I can have an incredible holiday season with no studying. AND have my family back. THAT'S what's keeping me focused and smacking me back into reality: I'm close.

I have the time to study … I'll never have to do this again. Suck it up for the next 8 weeks, and it will all be behind me.

Whenever you find yourself lacking the motivation, realize this is a long journey, and the end result is more money, more respect and more opportunities. You're taking this for a reason. Use that reason to keep pushing you on. Best of luck to all those sitting in this windows. May the number 75 be your friend.

I needed this today!! I need "Whenever you find yourself lacking the motivation, realize this is a long journey, and the end result is more money, more respect and more opportunities. You’re taking this for a reason. Use that reason to keep pushing you on." stuck on repeat in my head!
