On-the-Go FAR Study + Exam Countdown

Joe is a NINJA CPA Blogger.

When I first signed up for the Wiley Test Bank I thought it was a great tool and started pounding away at questions immediately. Having access to all of those multiple choice and simulations on your laptop is much easier then flipping through a book.

However, with your computer you are often limited to the table at which you sit, or wherever you set up for your daily study sessions. Then along came the new test bank.

The new test bank has opened a new world of studying to me. With the new iPad feature, I am not just limited to a specific spot in my house. I carry my iPad wherever I go: feeding my son, playing with the dog in the yard, cooking dinner, watching a ballgame, and before I fall asleep at night.

Although it is ideal to sit and do an actual study session, I feel like I am getting in much more studying done by answering two questions here and four questions there, in addition to my regular study sessions. I even bring my iPad to work. After completing a task, I will pull it out of my drawer and do a few MCQs.

Obviously, some questions cannot be answered using this method. Many questions are long and require calculations, pen and paper. Since the minimum number of questions in each study session on this version is ten, I will answer any questions that I can, then flag the ones that require a more in depth study session. You can revisit these flagged items later.

My FAR test is scheduled for May 28 at 8am. Although not a morning person, I feel that I can at least focus better after a cup of coffee rather than later in the afternoon.

I found a countdown app on my phone that shows me exactly how much time I have until this exam. I look at it every day to remind myself of the urgency I need to be placing on studying. At this moment, I have 7 weeks, 5 days, 19 hours, 49 minutes and 5 seconds left to study.

Since I have been doing videos and MCQs for a few months now I am at least confident knowing exactly what will be on the exam … now I have to memorize and really get down to studying.

Stay strong NINJAs! If you aren’t using your iPad for MCQs then make sure you start now!!
