NINJA CPA Review

Sarah is a new NINJA CPA Blogger.

Hey y’all, I’m Sarah! [insert extremely flat, yet charming Southern Louisiana accent]

Like the rest of the NINJA bloggers and readers, I’m trying to balance a consistent study schedule, a crazy-insane job that I may love a little too much, and a pretty much nonexistent social life.

It’s rarely easy, but nobody said this would be! At this point, I’ve actually passed each section… however, that pesky 18-month rule has gotten me twice!

I never thought I’d want to be an accountant. My grandmother suggested it when I was still in high school, and I told her that was the lamest job ever.

Fast-forward to 2010… Granny knew best: I graduated from LSU (GEAUX TIGERS!!) in accounting. I stayed in Baton Rouge to work for a major healthcare organization that I interned with throughout college and have been studying for parts of the exam ever since.

By the way, I’m okay admitting that I actually love being an accountant.

Anyways, I passed FAR (75) and AUD (87) and failed BEC (74) all in 2011. I spent 2012 studying/missing the mark on REG (71, 65, 68), passing BEC (76), and losing my FAR credit.

After a bit of a rocky start to 2013, I found out a couple weeks ago that I passed REG (75) but unfortunately lost my AUD credit too. So in a span of 3 months, I went from having 1 part left to 3 parts left, now back down to 2. It’s crazy how fast those things can change!

The good news is I’ve passed FAR and AUD already – I know I can do it, and what’s even better is that I know exactly how to study to make sure I pass them again, starting with FAR.

The light at the end of the tunnel has never been brighter, and I’m determined to ring in 2014 (and turn 26) as a CPA.

Over the next few days, I’ll be taking advantage of the oddly cold Louisiana weather to hole up in my house or in my favorite chair at CC’s (local coffee shop for all the non-Louisianans) and rewrite the FAR NINJA Notes to refresh my memory of what I studied two years ago.

As soon as that’s done, I’ll get right to reading/working MCQs in my Wiley book.

Hope y’all have a productive study week!!

On an unrelated but still important topic… It’s been a great week in LSU Athletics with wins for Men’s & Women’s Basketball (Men’s in triple OT against Alabama), Gymnastics, Baseball, and Softball! Not to worry, I’ll have you all bleeding purple and gold in no time!
