Hi, I am just beginning my CPA journey and thought blogging from the very beginning would be a great way to commiserate the long road. I am a mid-career changer with a varied back ground.

I have a B.S. in Psychology/Sociology and received my M.S. in Rural Sociology. I had all intentions of getting a PhD in Social Forestry when the workplace lulled me away.

I went to work as an Agricultural Statistician for USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. I was there for 5 years and got transferred to 2 different state offices. During that time I got married and had 1 child and was pregnant with number 2 when I left.

I wanted a more useful set of career skills that would allow me more career opportunities. After some time at home I enrolled a local community college’s CPA Prep program. I went part time taking most of my classes online.

It was 5 years before I got back into the work place. I now work for the State in an entry-level position in taxation.

The first exam I am tackling is BEC. I have the exam scheduled for August 30. I am excited and terrified! I know that this is a long rocky path and it will be a tough balance as I am above all a mom and wife. I look forward to it and to sharing the ups and downs with you guys.
